So I just won a race, and now the AI is proceeding to drive my car an extra 3laps now without giving me any options to leave, pressed every button and nothing, and I really don't want to reset my ps3 since this race has been giving me a lot of problems and I just managed to get gold in it for the first time.

Update: After about 30mins of this I was forced to reset my ps3, and now I can't even get it to recognize the GT5 CD, I can still go on PSN shopping and it's reading other discs. Not a single scratch or anything on the cd, don't know what to do.

Mine froze while loading the menu after a race and I had to reset, mines ok though sorry I cant help.
Other games still work? Thats weird.

What do you mean by it can't even recognize the GT5 CD? When you put it in, the disc doesn't show up under the Games section? Or will it just not start?

Try cleaning the disc and blowing into the disc slot on your ps3, then turn off your Ps3 and unplug it for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on... I had this happen to me while playing NFSHP and my method fixed it..

Well are you very far in the game? Maybe you'd try deleting your data if you're not. If you are far though, I would not recommend doing that.

How old is your PS3? Do you have the firmware updated and is it connected to the internet?

It's a day1 ps3, probably not even a hundred hours played on the system since I've gotten it, been sitting around as a paperweight for far too long. Not the furthest in the game, but would really hate starting all over if there was possibly another way. The system is update as far as I know, I was playing on PSN this morning.

I actually had a very similar problem a couple of years ago. Was playing GTA IV when it froze online. I was forced turn the PS3 off at the back and when I started it back up it seemed fine but wouldn't read disks. Have you tried other DVDs and games? I'm pretty sure it's a problem with your PS3 rather than the GT5 game.

In my case I had to send the PS3 to sony where they sent one back to me. Mine was still under warranty so it was all free. I don't know in your case though :S

After unplugging it for ~30mins and using a can of air on the ps3 I've gotten the cd to show up, but now it's repeating the original issue, of when the race is won I don't get an option to exit, tested it with both a-spec and b-spec as well as a few different cars/tracks and still the same issue, also when I have to turn off the game since I can't exit it the ps3 beeps 3times real quick, not sure if that means anything.

I've had this same problem too!!! After I finished a race, the AI continued to drive aroundthe car, and no menu or anything came up. Afterwards, the disc isn't even being recognized by my PS3. I had the 1.02 update installed, and since this I've deleted the "installed" data using Game Data Utility.

What the hell is going on?

The PS3 beeping is a bit like the "Program is not responding" messages you get when shutting down Windows sometimes. It means that the PS3 could not close GT5 normally, so it had to force it off.

Maybe it's an issue with the disc, but you said you had already played the game for some time with no problems. You could go to the store and ask them to exchange your copy for a new one. If a new disc doesn't solve it, it may be time for a new PS3.

its the yellow light of death, thats the first symptom then comes mr. yellow, so if u just bought it try returning it, or try play the gt5 game on another system if it works then return the ps3...if u paid for the warantee even better.

I don't think it's YLOD at least not yet, because I'm been trying to get it to repeat issues with a few others games/dvd and nothing even after hours of continuous play, however with GT5 it happens 100% of the time as soon as I win a race, the normal "Finish" never comes up and the ai just continues to drive at 49-50mph for another 100laps or so.

Update: Exchanged the cd at bestbuy and has been working perfectly fine since, guess I just got an unlucky bad print.
