Did the Group C Le Mans cars have ABS brakes fitted?

I was wondering if they did or didn't as many people use ABS and some don't. So I was wondering if anyone knew if they did for historical accuracy.

I believe they didn't. ABS is a much more recent thing in racing than Group C.

I could be wrong and if I am, someone will correct my error.

ABS has been around in different forms for a very long time, Not too sure if group C had them I would think so.

The 787B was using carbon ventilated discs so could well have been running ABS.

Ford Motor Co were fitting ABS as standard on there top end road cars in the mid eighties. Road cars have been fitted with ABS as far back as the early 70s.

Group C did not have ABS as far as I can remember (the actual regulations don't seen to be available anymore)

The first instance of ABS in use in motor racing that I do remember was when the predecessor to todays DTM switched from Group C cars to road car types.

At this point they added just about any technology they could to the cars.

I was pointing that ABS was available and readily used. Therefor It was highly probable ABS was or has been used in group C cars. Unfortunately I have searched and as stated the regs are now hard to find and group C cars ive checked dont go into brake detail in there specs.

Wikipedia says ABS was used in the 1980s for Group C, for safety reasons.

So, I was wrong with my initial post. Majority of the Group C era was before my time to begin with.

I would not trust wikipedia on anything given the editing that can take place.

This page gives the specification for the Porshe 956. It did not have ABS and I am sure none of the other Group C cars did either.
