I know some of you are not exactly in the holiday mood but maybe there is still hope for you. If your not in the spirit of then save your Grinch comments for some other thread.

For the rest of you I hope you can have some fun with this thread. The main purpose is to show off the decorations on your house or maybe a really good setup in your neck of the woods. Yes...this thread may have many Christmas Vacation comments but I (we) don't really mind. Happy Holidays GTP!

I'll start of course with my house :)

Looks good:tup:!

I haven't noticed too much around here, but I also don't get out that much. I'll probably be going for a drive through rich-ville when I get back and see what I can see.

I usually don't like this sort of thing, but I love the way your tree looks like an explosion!

Nice to see someone getting into the spirit of things, Brian 👍 There is a house round the corner from my Mum's place in Edinburgh that is ablaze with Xmas decorations, I'll hopefully get a picture of it when I go back to Scotland for the holidays in a couple of weeks. Amazingly, I only saw my first Xmas tree the other day - at my work. I don't know what is going on, I've never seen such a dearth of decorations and lights in all my life. Some people have a few tasteful, white-light decorations - but in my humble opinion, Christmas is no time for senseless good taste 👎 :p

I like Christmas. I like Christmas decorations. I have some USB fairy lights around my monitor as we speak.

But dude... Your house looks like it's on fire.

Really don't like all those colors mixed together.
But one advantage is that burglars probably stay away from such a bright area :)

Uno, that's nothing. I'm going to take some pics of some folks' home near my uncle's place. It's craaaaazy.

Lol sure the highway agency won't say anything about you decorating their street light?

Surprsingly, I've hardly seen any Xmas descoration this year, except for the house that never actually took them down. It's either the crap weather or the higher electricity bills that's keeping it later this year.

Thank you.

KAAAABOOOM...it's an explosion of holiday cheer!

I am going for a different look every year. I would like to have a year thats mostly white with just a small splash of color. I am in the transition of changing all my lights to the LED type so I kinda just have to go with what I can get during the after christmas sales.

They better be Indigo in color.

And don't mention FIRE....I'm already nervous as it is. :scared:

I can't win them all. :indiff:

I actually ran out of steam before I ran out of lights. After three days I was like, screw it...thats enough already!:irked:

I hadn't thought of the man coming down on me for lighting up the pole. I'd scream Grinch if they did.

Ahem.

In East Peoria, we have what's called the "Festival of Lights" Parade. Basically, we have giant floats made out of christmas lights. I'd consider it the biggest holiday light display in the world.

And I drive past it daily.

So, I So TOTALLY win.

About half a mile down the road from me is an exotic animal farm. The guy has Camels, Zebras, and Buffalo. Other animals too, but I forget.

Anyhow, every Christmas the guy has a drive through light show. People come from all around. I'll post pictures up before the weekend is over.

That Star Trek one looks pretty sweet! 👍... is that a Pepsi logo I see on the side of it?!

Robin

Yes, I fear so. PepsiCo started sponsoring it, so they had their logo plastered onto the side. They also have an X-Wing and TIE fighter, and a NASA Space Shuttle, among a TON of other vehicles. Even a 1:1 scale CAT D9 tractor! with CAT yellow bulbs!

There's about 30 or so different floats, ranging from Fiat 500 in size to that Train, which is about 7/8ths scale. (and If you've ever stood next to a train, you know how big it is.) ALL of them are made from lights, christmas lights, usually, with some featuring strobes, and many featuring motion of some sort. (spinning wheels, turning heads on creatures, moving legs, Even an NBC peacock with feathers that light up!) There's a few different areas they're parked, until New Year's. The largest display area also has many other static displays that you drive through. Also decorated is a highway overpass and a 20-30 foot (8-10 meter) wreath made out of an old ferris wheel, sitting out on a bluff. Corporate sponsors and donations fund the event. I think they even have a laser light show somewhere this year.

I'll try and get some acutal photos of my own, If I can.

Wow, love the displays. By the way, where's the white stuff? We've got plenty to share if you need.

To me, christmas lights should always have that yellow tinge that they've always had when they were introduced. Now, the more energy efficient LED lights have a "cool" (blueish) tint to them, and they're less bright. Kudos to UnoMOTO for keeping that oldschool look 👍.

To that end, it's my goal that when I have a house, I'll be able to turn it into the Griswold's home for the christmas holidays:

Here it is December 7th and we haven't had a storm with more then three inches of snow.👎 The mountains have been getting pounded to the point they measure it in feet. My lights would look much better with some snow on the ground and I will post up some pictures as soon as it happens.

It won't be like that for long. I am converting my lights to LED a little bit every year for energy savings. And so that I don't have to search for the ONE light that has burnt out which makes the whole string not work.

I wonder...does Al Gore put up lights on his house?

Oh, I didn't realize it was your house. Missed that part. I hope you didn't take offense or anything because that's obviously quite a display you've put on.

I did...because EVERYONE MUST like the lights on my house.

Great lights, I need to get some pics up of my house and my ghetto tree (half the lights don't work and I had to use another light set to replace them).

From,
Chris.
