I know I don't post much here so I wouldn't expect anyone to miss me or question where I've been but I just wanted to let you know how lucky you are to have been able to play for the last 2 months or so.

I had knee surgery, they went in and found my ACL was almost gone. That didn't show up on the MRI so they weren't expecting it. Well he ended up having to get some other tendon from my leg and make a completely new ACL and attach it, then clean out all the pieces of tendon that were scattered throughout my knee. And clean all the arthritis that had built up.

I then ran a 106 degree fever so had to stay in the hospital a few extra days.

Needless to say, with a 6 month rehab scheduled, I haven't been able to play GT5 since and it has sucked!

Just now about to get the wheel, pedals and seat out and give it a go.

Thanks all for keeping this great forum going and remember my motto...

"Drive like hell, you get there faster"

Sorry to hear about your health issues. As a chronic pain and spinal damage sufferer , I really sympathise with all the hell you have been through.

I hope you quickly find your mojo on the track and start causing hell like never before!

Give that wheel some stick my friend. :)

Thats a great motto :p Glad to hear you can play again.

Thanks guys, I fired it up and first, Wow what a download. lol took a while to get caught up. Second, started off with the Lambo seasonal and first corner KABLAAM! front end straight in to the wall. haha had to get use to it again. Oh well, didn't take too long. Thanks again.

@Skuh, man I want a Ferrari style stick so bad. I know everything is going to the padel shifter but I'm kinda old school ya know? I grew up building cars and our own transmissions and there is just nothing like having to reach down and get it in the next/right gear just as fast as you can.

I know exactly what you are talking about, im a 38 year old who drives his G27 with stick and clutch. Taking something away is taking something away from the driving experience. I know what you mean about the Ferrari Stick. I would love the chrome shifter from the T500.

I feel ya, man. I had spinal cord surgery earlier this year (multiple cysts grew inside my spinal cord over an extended period of time, probably all 25 years I've been alive without knowing, and had to be drained). Spent over a month in the hospital rehabbing. I missed GT5 so much. I'm still doing rehab 3 times a week and working 3 days a week, so I at least I have time to play. It's just going to be a long, long recovery. Spinal injuries/malformities suck. 👎 Good to see you are back to playing. I know how you felt. :dopey:

Edit: Not that anybody is interested, but I started walking kind of funny, especially the couple years before I found out about my condition. The surgery sent my spine into a sort of shock. My upper body was fine, but I lost movement in my legs, and that's what I'm trying to regain. I've made a ton of progress, but have a long way to go. So if anyone sees this that ever has a similar issue, there is hope at the end of the road. Sorry I went off topic...

Here's hoping all you guys recover fully. Good luck! 👍

Is it neuro fibrosis? a friend of mine has just been diagnosed with it. He had similar symptoms for a few years. He's in a bad way and is still going through rehab. Did it take long to diagnose it?

It was hydromyelia. The cysts just built up fluid over time and started putting pressure on my spinal cord, compressing it forward. Like I mentioned, I started walking kind of differently because of it, mostly walking on my toes. Because it was happening over such a long period of time, I didn't really start noticing it until about 2 years ago. My parents and I decided I should see an orthopedic doctor in the spring because we thought it was something in my legs causing me to walk oddly. It wasn't an orthopedic problem, and the doctor advised me to see a neurologist. I got an MRI, and they found the cysts pretty much immediately. So I would say it didn't take long at all to diagnose my condition once I finally did get to a doctor. So a month later, they drained the cysts and opened a large one up so it would drain all the time and not build up pressure again. Been doing rehab since early May. I've come a long way, but still have a long way to go. Other than some spinal permanent damage from having the condition so long without knowing, they expect me to make a mostly full recovery. 👍

Sorry to hear about your friend, and I hope he has a good recovery. I can imagine what he's going through. Good luck to him.

Sorry to hear about all that, as somebody who's been through some of that stuff, I admire your will. And it only makes me happier to hear that you love GT5, and that you prefer a stick.

Best wishes,

-KinLM
