Difficulty of GT World Championship much higher than other Prof. events?

It may be just because its the last event of the Professional races, but I find that GT World Championship to be MUCH more difficult than the other races in this series, and even than in the extreme series.

I'm a fairly good driver (even for DS3) and have run my tuned 430Scuderia and my Vauxhall Calibra Super Touring Car and the most I can achieve is 3rd place.

With a bit of grinding im sure i'll crack it, but did anyone else encounter this in terms of difficulty?

Only difficulty i've had in it is winning consecutive races with a stock Scud, so it shouldn't be impossible.
