Hey people, Just bought a PS2 and naturally the first game i got was GT3. Ive only been playing it for a few days but it is absolutley quality.

Just a quick question. Next to the readout of what gear you are in on the digital display when you are racing there is another set of numbers whcih occasionally flash up saying things like "+3" or "+4" etc.

Does anybody know what this means as I cant figure it out.

Also does anybody know any good guides on the net which have tips for tuning. I dont want setups, but just some tips as to what some of the things such as suspension camber etc do to boost performnace.

Cheers.

P.S. the name should be speed 12 as in the TVR but i mistyped it. DOH!!

Welcome to the forums....

If you want to get that corrected, why not register the name properly spelled.... Hopefully no one already has that name though......

Hi, and welcome...

You could send Jordan a Private Message (click My GTPlanet, then go to Private Messaging) and ask him to change your username for you.

On to your questions...

Try not to get into the habit of following the gear indicator, as it can mislead you. But it will help you when you're learning the tracks, as it will give you some help to judge the severity of the upcoming corner. It also reacts to things like tyre wear, which can be helpful too.

On the tuning/setup issue, I have only two pieces of advice:
Apply weight reduction to everything.
Use the toe on the front/rear wheels to control understeer. that is, toe the rear wheels out (+2) to kill understeer, or toe them in (-2) to control oversteer.

Have fun here, it's a pretty cool place.

Well everyone's screen name has a story of some kind behind it usually, anyone care to share??

Mine is not because I like Star Trek or anything. My name is Kirk, and the captain fits nicely behind my name. Kinda cool for a nickname, don't you think?? :burnout:

Mine is easy - a mis-spent youth. :) My old roommate and I spent so much time drinking Rye (Canadian Whiskey) that he figured that ethanol had replaced all the blood in my system.

The name stuck and I've been using it for so long online, there's no point in changing it now.
