I recently purchased a Samsung UA40D5000 40" Series 5 LED and its a pretty good TV for the price. I noticed that it has some digital noise filters (mostly for lower quality video to clear up the image a bit) and decided to turn them off while fiddling with settings.
I noticed the texture clarity of games on the PS3 was greatly improved as everything was sharper and less blurred, a side effect however was in GT5 there is a lot of digital "noise". In dark areas its very patchy and grainy and although the textures are clearer the overall image quality is annoying. Its mostly visible in cockpit, when you buy a car (the dark screen where it drives forward) and when its dark during racing.
If anyone else has a similar TV or has HDMI on a 1080p screen and can say weather they get similar digital noise with any filters off than please tell me. I am wondering if its just GT5 or my HDMI cable needs replacing.
Every other game looks much better with these filters off, especially GTA IV, it would be a shame if GT5 were to be the only one with issues and if I had to go without texture clarity just to get rid of the digital noise.
-Thanks, Ben
