Has anybody played Dirt 3 Multiplayer before? if they have please tell me how many people are playing online this year? Are the rooms always full or are they deserted? I think I'm in the wrong place but I did post in Other>Dirt but nobody was answering so I'm going to try my luck here.

It's practically deserted. The only time I can find at least 5 people is around 5 AM GMT, doing Rallycross. It will almost always be Rallycross by the way.

One of the main reasons dirt 3 didn't last long with me is the lack.of players online,Dirt 2 was so much fun online and while dirt 3 has great single player i wouldn't recommend it.

Wait until DiRT 4, or the soon to come (if you're a Codemasters fan) GRiD 2. :D

Well I do have NFS Shift 2 :) So I would call myself a codemaster fan :)

The single player is still very good, though you asking about online only makes me think you care none.

It's not that I care it's my own preference, why would I buy a game when it does not meet my requirements? I have heard that campaign is good but multiplayer is deserted so I wouldn't waste my money on something that I can't play with other people.

Yeah, I'm not going to buy it I might as well wait for GT6 or Dirt 4 if it ever comes out.

NFS: Shift 2 isn't a Codemasters title, sorry.

As suggested, the SP is a good game and you could always play with friends online in private matches as the servers are still there - just not utilised by many

Try here. There still is a small dedicated community of DiRT fan's on the CodeMasters Forums that may want to race with you.
Hope this helps. :)

I bought it yesterday and the multiplayer is not really deserted. In Pro tour (matchmaking) you will find full rooms. Jam sessions there were at least 20 rooms yesterday.

I've been playing it again as well. I wonder where all these people came from. A month ago there was just about no one. Now it's pretty active.

Hmmmm, I might reconsider my decision as I haven't found any racing game yet

Games get sold as a promotion cheaply by certain retailers and people buy it. I've seen this with quite a few older games that get new surges of interest online.
