You need to set up a US account, for some reason they haven't published it in Europe yet.
For those outside the US that have not downloaded it off the US PS Store yet, the DiRT demo just got added to the Euro PS Store as well as some other stuff. 👍

I really don't know why but I am still playing this game, I think I will ask for it for my birthday...it's too fun!

Personally, I thought it was terrible. Far too arcadey for my liking. I didn't like the feel of it at all. You didn't have to touch the brakes really, and like somebody already mentioned, if you do touch the brakes it stops almost instantly. I'd prefer GT4 rally, to be honest. It felt horrible.

The only redeeming features were the damage/crashes. The graphics were alright, and the tracks were decent, but not enough to bring it past severely mediocre in my mind.

I hope they make something similar to WRC: Rally Evolved on the PS3.

I agree with you on the brakes, they scream arcade physics, but the problem I have always had with "Rally Races" in GT3/4 is that they aren't real rally races, they are more like auto cross courses... but the physics are quite good so in some ways they make up for the lack of having any real rally races.

You’re among friends, come on, you can admit the super slow-motion replay is cool. :D

100% agreed. I'm really hoping Evolution Studios put as much effort into their next WRC game as they have been on MotorStorm.

That said, you have to at least give DiRT credit for having a very good and realistic WRC style rally courses and timing.

DiRT's damage physics and effects on the car's performance is perhaps the best I've seen in any game, even better than F1:CE which was the previous crown holder for realistic damage modeling.

Other things I would give DiRT extra credit for would be:
  • Informative & Detalied Pause Menu
  • Track Info & Map
  • Damage Report Info
  • Timing Info
  • Realistic Navigational Instructions from co-driver.
  • No Invisible "Walls"
  • Time Delay for getting Flipped Over after a Roll-over. (long story why I know this) :D
  • Terminal Damage Option
  • Changing Engine Noise from Engine Damage (nice touch)
  • Adjustable AI Performance
  • Adjustable Mechanical Damage
  • Dirt build-up on Cars
  • and a few other nice touches along the way
You also have to give DiRT credit for offering a wide selection of different styles of racing, courses, cars, weather, etc. And although it's a nod to the arcade community, I also liked all the odd little stats you can compile, like "Longest Distance Before Crashing", "Longest Slide", etc. Some of the stats are also quite useful, like "Number of Clean Stages".

I agree though, a much improved WRC next-gen game is much needed, but I must admit, DiRT has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise for me, and fits in nicely between ridiculous arcade style driving games and hardcore sims. 👍

Well yes, the super-slow motion replay is quite cool. :p

I do agree that it does have a nice menu, nice damage and pretty decent tracks. However, I think it was more the disappointment that a next-gen game reverted to something very arcadey. While I do enjoy some arcade-style racing/rally games (hell, I even turned on V-Rally the other day for a bit of stupid fun!), I really expected a lot more from DiRT, even if some of the more recent Colin McRae games have been a bit lacking (in my opinion, at least). While they did some things spot on, they left out the most important part for something a lot of people are calling a Rally Sim - and that's the Sim part. :indiff:

I won't doubt that it's probably a lot of fun, as arcade doesn't necessarily mean "not fun", but I think the main thing is that I expected a whole lot more and I ended up being quite disappointed.

Have to agree with all above, steering is like have a fet servo (r/c cars) really quick from lock to lock and the pivot thing really annoys me as does the blurry filter on the screen. Not far from TOCA in the handling front.... Pants.

Hope the full game is better! Rent first I think!

Not to scathing I hope!

Just got the full version and after a couple hours of play, I must admit, I am having fun 👍

On the full version, can anyone confirm if in the Options menu the game supports the full functions of the G25?
- Gated shifting
- Clutch pedal

Eat my words!

What a fun game, race in car sorts the above problem out, can't stop playing it!
