I think it's fairly obvious on the premium cars that dirt and snow tires have their own set of wheels, which depending on the car can make it look cooler or just weird (usually the latter). However, a little pet peeve of mine (something I think was carried over from GT4) is that on most standard cars, switching to dirt or snow tires will shrink the size of the stock wheels on the car. The size change is fairly dramatic, one extreme example is the Infiniti FX45 concept, throw some dirt or snow tires on that for a good laugh.
