Dirty oil

Hi guys im going to do a 24hr race with the XJ13 '66 classic Jag. I've driven the car in already and the car is restricted to 615 pp for the race. Now i was advised to do a B-Spec race to get the oil dirty. Then drop it to 615 pp cause apparently it won't loose any power as i do the 24hr race and the pp won't drop further. As my friend says if i do an oil change and get the car to 615 pp but he says during the race i will loose power and pp and the car will be slower with clean oil , but says with dirty oil i will stay at 615 pp throughout the 24hr race. Is it true? Or do i do the oil change or rebuild the engine. At the moment the car has over 2000 KMs with dirty oil and the race is taking place on Le Sarthe. Please advise. Thanks

Ok, first of all your friend is correct.. Second of all, why 615pp?? It's not restricted?

You allowed to tune the car but only to 615 pp, but no aids will be allowed and the use of clutch, manual shift and cockpit view is a must lol. Will the oil light come on during the race? And if it does will i still maintain speed and power? The cars we allowed to use is the Jag, Ferrari and the Ford. So to my understanding you say "Do not change the oil or do an engine rebuild"?
 
Ok, my confusion was in the "24hr" part.. I thought you were referring to the A-Spec 24 hour long race.. Any race that exceeds 175miles you will start losing power and PP, so in turn YES you will lose speed and acceleration.. So if the race is no more than 12 laps around NuR 24hr track then you will be ok.. If it is I would do as your friend suggest( do not change the oil after the oil light is on) and wear it down first, then tune to 615pp.

We will be doing a complete 24hr race in real time. We will be starting exact time as the real Le Mans race. I hope you understand now lol
 
I would leave the car as it is. If you've really bottomed out you shouldn't lose any more horsepower until you hit the 5,000km mark. That's when the red oil light will come on and the real dirty oil effect takes hold. At this point the hp will drop dramatically and quickly. Hopefully by this time you will have a good portion of your race in the books.

If however you do an oil change now your hp will start dropping off from that 615pp level after only a few 100km if that. You may end up doing most of the race at 608-610hp.

If your car has a low 2000km on the dial then you'll spend most of your race at full power for sure by not changing the oil..👍
 
Thanks bud, but i see i have a problem the car is on 2400 KMs and the race in total is going to be about 5000 KMs that's over 7000 KMs and as you say the oil light comes on at about 5000 KMs and that's when the car is going to loose power. What will be the quickest option to get the oil dirty again if that's an option?

If you have time then change the oil and B-spec it over a 500 miler somewhere. That should drag the oil back down to the lowest levels again and still give you over 4000km at 615pp. Once you hit that first low level you can drive for 4000km without losing more than 1-2hp.

I would rather start at 615pp and stay there for 4000km than lose it after only a few hundred kms and drive for 4000kms at ~608pp.

Lol thanks bud you were great help. I guess we have to put up more mileage while practicing. It will pick up mileage in an online lobby?

You're welcome and great choice of car too. Also if you're the only one going in with dirty oil with this mileage then I think you'll see a real benefit especially in the straights if their pp has tailed off early and you're still flying at 615pp.. Good luck Mate!..👍
 
Cars start losing horsepower after about 175 miles, i guess you will find out for yourself
