Disabling the PS button on a DFGT wheel

Has anyone tried this before?

The problem I'm experiencing with my wheel is that every now and then the PS screen will pop up when I steer hard, especially with sudden moves. The same also applies to the "select" & "start" button, but they are less annoying in an online race as I won't thereby lose control of the car and smash into the wall.

After some weeks of frustration I finally decided to take action and I'm now contemplating to remove the cover and see whether the wires are messed up, and if that doesn't work I'll try disabling the PS button.

But before I take such a drastic move I wonder whether any of you have had the same experience and can share with me how you dealt with this problem? More importantly, is there a simple way to remap or disable the PS button without removing the cover?
 
Pretty sure there's no way to remap the PS button, it's integral to the function of PS3 controllers... how long have you had the wheel? You might consider informing Logitech, they're known to help people out with issues like this!

On a side note, by shaking the wheel a bit the problems I've mentioned seemed to have, at least for the time being, disappeared.
 
Wait for a patch. The DFGT is losing buttons after a patch. Hopefully for you it will be the PS button. Lol.

Really? What buttons are they? I've been using the wheel since I got it for prologue in 2008 and this hasn't happened to me yet!

Ah. Dont play online then. If you play online and the lobby host has the TC set to off, your dial will no longer work online or off.

I did hear about the TC issue but that wasn't too bad for me - I never use driving assists anyway. The PS home screen randomly popping up has, however, not been confined to GT5 but extends to all other games whenever I use the DFGT (eg Dirt 2), which confirmed my suspicion that it's a hardware issue as opposed to some coding bugs of GT5.

On a positive note, as mentioned above, the shaking of my wheel during my attempt to remove the cover has seemed to temporarily resolve my problem. I'm still planning to email logitech once I have time this weekend.

You probably just had a contact rattle out of place and you probably rattled it back in place, good job!
 
Arghhhhhhh I thought it was over but ....:ouch: it happened to me again, in the middle of an online race :nervous::sick::yuck::grumpy:

I can hardly tolerate this any more. I don't want to be constantly playing under the worry that my wheel will suddenly malfunction:grumpy:

So I've decided - I will email logitech tomorrow!

Just contact logitech, they'll send you a new wheel. my setup had pedal problems, got a replacement

Is there a warranty period? I have to see whether I've kept the receipt and instruction manual....


What happens if I have neither of those? Will they still be willing to help me out?

I have same problems. Do you fix it?
 
I dont know if this will help or not but one way I've dissabled buttons before (on accident) was by setting my E-brake (essentialy holding the button down). Then to my suprise the circle button on my controller stopped working until i released the E-brake.

So I'm guessing you might be able to rig something up to hold the button down (hopefully you can exit with the controller) and maybe it wont work again until its released and pushed again.
