Disappearing sound effects

This has happened to me several times, I tread searching but nothing similar showed up. Every now and then I seem to lose the horn and tire squealing sound effects. I've noticed the tire noise going away several times, only just recently noticed that the two seemed to be tied together.

I don't know specifics of each time, but the most recent time it happened (can't remember the car) I was driving as normal, I think maybe an RX-7 in the Clubman R5 time trial seasonal event. I exited from a run, switched to a different exhaust, and restarted to find no tire sounds, and sure enough, no horn. Switching the exhaust back didn't fix it, nor does switching cars.

So far the only way I've come up with to restore the sounds is to go to global options and then change sound effect volume and 'theater type' settings. I'm not sure which does it, I've always changed both.

Does anybody know of what may be the actual cause, how to avoid, or a quicker way to restore them? Do I have the only PS3 with this issue?
 
It happened to me a few times too. Mostly it's tire noises that disappear.
I think it has something to do with changing tires in the tuning screen.

How do you output the sound, TV, Stereo, Sorround?

My PS3 output goes stereo into the TV which then has an output that I run to the proper stereo. No surround or anything on my stereo.

Edit: I should probably add that I usually use one of the "theater" settings for the range. Whatever effects I may or may not miss due to that, I just find that the "normal" setting doesn't allow me to hear the engines of the other cars over my own in most cases.

THANK YOU, this happens to me every damn day. Drives me nuts! I only race shuffle.....so tires don't change...it just happens randomly between races....never changes mid race.

Someone please help me.
