I really like this game and have put quite a few hours on it the past few days. I love riding the lower end bike as apposed to the fast bikes because they are just more fun. A 250 is the way to go.

I've been thinking about getting this when it comes out here in the UK but a few things are putting me off.
First I hated the lack of good racing AI in the GT series, I might as well play on my scalextric....atleast they can change lanes now.
The lack of bikes on track at once seems to make this more of a time trial centered game, does that sound about right or can you have some really good races too?
Lastly they dont have the 02 R6...everyone knows thats the best one (looks out of window) 👍.

Quick bike geek question, does it model slipper clutches properly?

V4 400s !

Liquid violence, the racing aspect can at times be quite good, definetly better than gt4 but still you can feel at times that your spread out and away from your rivals. The ai is a little bit better than gt4's and furthermore the lesser size of the bikes give you much more room to race clean...

But they will still ram you sometimes.......you would think pd would have cleaned this up by now. :) Fortunately when they hit you hard enough for you come off your bike they come flying off right after:lol:

I suddenly realized last night that the bikes don't rotate when you look at them in your garage. That's been a neat feature of all the GT games up until now.

I think it rotates when you win it, but that's the last time you get an admiring look-around at that particular 3D model.

To do a good clean Ring lap time, perhaps try the Honda VFR400R.

I would have to agree with some and also agree with the others as well. It is a great game in that the physics are very good with a great feel, same great graphic as we are all fond of in GT4, I absolutely love the behind the wheel effects, the sense of speed is awesome, pitching from side to side (freakin' awesome), the AI are much better than in GT4 but way too slow in their lines. The field is spread out way too much and the rolling starts *&%#$, they were bad enough in GT4 but in TT, many races if you qualify, the AI are not a factor and if you start out of the rear the race is futile. PD, if you are looking at your biggest fanbase located here at GTPlanet, LOOSE THE ROLLING STARTS!!!!!
I've played for a little over a week and I am two championships from completing the career mode, way too short.
However, the 2 player rocks.

Im kinda disapointed that the game didnt turn out to be that good. Not been able to do a wheelie on an hayabusa wtf! I have seen Hayabusas(stock) do wheelies for over a mile going down the road ! And another thing haveing to earn the bikes thats stupid cus the challenges are hard as Shi* .Why can't u just buy the bikes like u can buy cars in Gt4?Is anyone out there feeling the same way about Tourist Trophy???
Please now!

Definitely agree with you here, the challenges are hard as f--- to a non rider in real life. If PD ever makes TT2 I sure hope they put the GT's money system back in, and also B-Spec for money earning purposes.

The only bike I've ridden in real life is a pedal bike.

Once you get used to how the bikes handle in this game then the challenges get easier. The only one I'm having "problems" with is the TZ250 but I've only tried it a couple of times so far.

Other than that, once you get used to the game the challenges get easier. My biggest thing was realizing that these are bikes and not cars. The racing lines are different.

I suspect the rolling starts have something to do with the physics, which I agree are otherwise great.

On Pro mode, if you stop the bike completely, it does a weird floating-and-drifting thing, and you often fall down. At speed you'd never notice this, but I suspect they couldn't get the physics down for a stopped bike, so they only allow rolling starts.

My biggest problem is the racing -- there isn't any real opposition because they've set the AI at a level that's too hard for 50% of players and too easy for the rest. Why PD didn't create an AI difficulty selection is a disappointing mystery.

Keeping the bike stopped and standing upright is possible, but even rolling starts where all the bikes are together would have been fine. So I wonder if PD is afraid of the game slowing down too much if it has to draw all the bikes at one time.

I just realized I had stopped the bike on turn 6 or 7 of Laguna, and it's slightly sloped and that's why the bike was drifting sideways at a standstill; might also explain why someone was complaining about falls causing 1/4 miles slides.

I did notice that, it's more important to get the right line in TT, but still, I wish they at least bring back the money system.

I actually thought the license tests were way too easy I did them in one sitting the first time I played the game and the lil mission were even easier imo. I actually thought it was a lot better to earn the bikes that way when I start the races I have a nice range of bikes to choose from and dont have to go hunting for the right bike. But hey we're all different, have diff opinions and whatnot, but I'm not disappointed in the game at all. I like the 10 second penalty, its seperates the racers from the wanna-bee's who cheat to look good :sly:

Maybe it's because I'm a motorcyclist in real life, but I'm not disappointed. I'm very pleased. I think the physics are pretty amazing considering the PS2 is five year old technology.

People have complained about the lack of bikes on the track, but considering the computer resources necessary to properly model a motorcycle, I think this is the best we can get get from the PS2. I've noticed a bit of slowdown when there are 2 bikes on the track so I think that's your answer right there.

I do agree I wish the bikes rotated in the garage. I have no idea why they don't espacially considering they've already gone to the trouble of animating it rotating.

I like that I have to race a bike to own it. It saves so much time from having to earn money. And as others have said, you actually learn to ride the bike you own. I never found the challenge races difficult, with the exception of the TZ250. I have a sneaky suspicion they decided to make one race amazingly difficult just to give fans something they can legitimately complain about.

I give PDs first motorcycle game a big 👍

When looking at the current bike, or another bike, in the garage, play with the right joystick. In this game, you can now control the rotation of your machine.

So the question becomes, "Why don't they mention this in the manual or the on-screen help/hints?".

you should be able to use the analog to rotate or zoom in, think its the right one (R3)
If you reread that, you might realize that, if one doesn't thoroughly comprehend your entire note, it sounds like you are suggesting what they should have made the game do, but didn't.

BTW, R3 isn't the right stick, it's "secret" button underneath the right stick, activated if you push straight down (or almost straight down) on the top of the mushroom. That's the non-configurable button which toggles your ghost when you brake hard with the stick. :)

The only motorcycle game I've played before this was the first MotoGP on Xbox and loved it(is it considered Arcade or Sim?). I felt the controls were perfect(the triggers made things easier), and when I'd play TT on PS2 the controller would be an issue, which really isn't, but I'd prefer an Xbox style controller for added control. The licenses I did in a couple of hours so I wouldn't be limited in racing/bike selection, and found them on the easy/medium level of difficulty. Then I did my first challenge to get the Hayabusa, then all the GSX-Rs, and started racing. My first impressions is that the controls are on the touchy side, possibly in the controller design and programming, but it'll be something I'll have to get used to whenever I go and finally get the game. The physics is a debate for me as I've never been on a motorcycle but think there are some things that are iffy on TT(when I do a wheelie and try to go side to side down the track the bikes direction is just retarded, points the opposite direction you're headed). The challenges to earn the bikes I can understand to give the player the seat time on the bike to learn how it rides. A thing that I read off another forum which I might have to agree with is the toning down of bikes gearing so that they are drivable(and also probably to deal with PS2 controller limitations), the Hayabusa should get up to speed quick but I don't see or feel it happening. I give the game a 8/10 for a solid first entry for PD's entry into this racing genre.
