Is it that time of the year again? Must be. Disaster Movie is basically the samething you saw in Epic Movie & Meet The Spartans. Plot? Make fun of the latest movies including Zohan, Indiana, Juno, etc.

Hollywood, let's say this together. This type of movie was funny when Scary Movie did it the first 2 times, decent the 3rd, and kind of sad the 4th.


It has Fail written all over it.

These guys just don't know when to call it quits. Scary Movie 2 was great, made me laugh, but everything after was horrible. Date Movie, Superhero Movie, and now this.
 
Ugh. It's just not funny anymore. The movie-parody movie was funny when it was a new and original idea, but that was five years ago, and now it's just overused and boring.

You should have gone ahead and posted the video in the EPIC FAIL! thread. That's where it's quickly heading.
 
Why can't spoof movies be more like the Naked Gun series and Hot Shots? Granted the current batch of "spoof/pop-culture-referencing-every-other-second" movies have a laugh every now and then, but they are getting more and more tiresome every time a new iteration is released.

The writers need to either :
A) have the wayne's brothers do the production/1/2 the writing

or

B) Study all of the Mel Brooks movies.

If you're referring to older movies like Mel Brooks', yes, I know that. However, Mel's movies didn't make fun of every single new movie of that time, like Date, Epic, or Disaster movie tries to do.

Movies like Mel's also had an actual plot worth watching.
 
Mel's Movies didn't rely solely on pop culture references. They spoofed one movie in particular, with sometimes a smattering of jokes referring to other movies... but not often.

Mel's movies are cohesive wholes, and can be watched without referencing the original movie (most of the time)... Scary, Teen, Epic, etcetera... require an encyclopedic knowledge of current pop culture just to catch all the jokes. Most of which are so supremely idiotic that they have to put a big "HEY, I'M MAKING A JOKE HERE!" (damn Epic Movie was full of it) sign over each punchline just for the audience to understand it.

The only thing worse than a scriptwriter who makes bad jokes is a scriptwriter who feels he needs to remind you that he has just made a joke:

"Harry Potter" enters... Only he's wrinkly and white haired. Script obviously making reference to the fact that Harry Potter movies come so far apart that the actors and actresses will probably be in wheelchairs by the time it's done.

Wait. Maybe the audience won't get it. Let's add dialogue.

"Hello, I'm Harry Potter!"

Classic rubbish.

Agreed, this nonsense needs to stop. Hell, they should outlawed this from all teenagers if I cared. Can't believe everyone got suckered into this...... :crazy:
 
Ok, now that I've seen the video, I agree with everyone here. Major fail is about to go down, I did laugh at Juno kicking the SItC chick.

Yup. Airplane! is my all-time favorite movie, my friend 👍. Spaceballs is pretty far up on my list, too. Both are classic movies that parodied pop culture, and both are completely ridiculous in every possible way.
 
I just saw the commercial for this. It makes me want to stab the creators. They should have only made the first scary movie. The rest are just nonsense.

Disaster Movie indeed...

Ouch. I actually want to see Tropic Thunder, just for Downey Jr.'s role alone. :lol:
 
I love Downey Jr. after doing Ironman, but doing Tropic Thunder was a big sin... he lost point for that as well as feeding Stiller's and Black's retarded fire of fame. :rolleyes:

The Mel Brooks movies are hilarious, but that man is a genius. Scary Movie 1 and 2 were also genuinely funny. After that it got old.

I'm not gonna see that Tropic Thunder movie because I refuse to watch movies that take the Vietnam war in a comical manner (which is what it looks it's doing).
 
I refuse to watch Tropic Thunder just because it looks like a terrible movie (with a premise similar to what has already been perfected elsewhere).
