I searched already, but couldn't find the problem I'm having.

When I start up the PS3, it won't read the disc, and it reacts like there's no game in the PS3. It is that way with every disc. I haven't done anything to my PS3 since yesterday, when it was fine, and it isn't connected to the internet, so that can't be the reason I think.

Can somebody point me in the right way to a solution?
Thanks!

Your blu ray drive could be gone, try a DVD or PS2 game. If they don't work as well, then something else may be wrong.

Bad news my friend you will have to send your PS3 to sony. It happened 2 times to my friend. The second time he had to 175 $ CAD for the repairs.

I also tried a DVD and it didn't work. :nervous::scared:
I don't know if I still have a guarantee thing that I don't have to pay for it, I hope it didn't expire yet.

Dragonistic, do you know what else may be wrong? The disc is spinning, but he doesn't even react to it, I think it's something with the laser. :grumpy:

And I have it just over a year, a 40GB one.

I'm afraid I can't help any further, I lost my 60gb to a broken blu ray drive but was still under warranty. This meant I got a free swap for a refurbished one which amazingly arrived in 3 days after I made the call to Sony.

Seeing as your PS3 still turns on, back up all your game saves asap in order to protect any important data loss.

Thanks for all of the help guys.

I just called sony and they said that I needed to format the whole system.
So now, I'm going to make a back-up and then do that. If it doesn't help I have to send it to sony.

I have formatted it and it didn't work. So now I can send my PS3 back to Sony and I get back another fixed one, for free, in like 15 or more days.

Question:
If I send it I will need to erase everything from my PS3 right?
I formatted it now and I still see my name when I start it up. How can I erase it?
