Ive replaced my hdd with a ssd, it has reduced loading times in gt5 to 1/3 and 1/5 in places, some loading has been removed completely. I was shocked to find that gt6 does not have an optional install and instead has it performing periodically.

My question is would there be quicker loading times if i opt for the downloaded version instead?

I have digital gt6 download on ssd. And I can confirm it is very fast. I can't compare it to hdd becos I only have ssd on ps3 now.

Would it be possible for you to post a video going from main screen into a race or or with a stop watch get the time between selecting a race and beginning. I know it sounds petty but that time adds up and ssd's are not cheap.

Tried to measure time but it was pointless. It would only be seconds between button presses. Maximum 5sec. Usually 3secs. Tracks just load super fast compared to gt5 with ssd. And as you know gt5 with ssd is about 50% faster than hdd. So I presume it is still the case here. But the difference between 5sec and 10 sec is not much compared to gt5 where there are differences in minutes. So if you want to save some money just stick with hdd.

I have GT6 as a digital download, and a 120gb SSD. Before release I reformatted for optimal performance. GT6 is the only game on my PS3 currently.

Total time from the point I hit X on the GT6 icon on my XMB to when I can navigate the menus is ~23 seconds.

I'm not sure how this stacks up compared to other setups...

Edit: I know after watching some youtube videos that sometimes car thumbnails in the dealership take a little while to load / load in a wave to the right. Mine are load instantly.
