You may have driven one or both of the Alpine VGT cars, but how often have you listened closely to the crackle: IN A REPLAY!!
Yup, when you watch a replay of an Alpine VGT, you will hear MORE exhaust popping/crackle.
I tried this with the VW GTI Supersport but no dice, there is no extra popping in the replays, like there is in Alpine VGT cars' replays.
Try it out, race a few laps on any track, watch the replay, and besides hearing the crakle/popping while upshifting/downshifting or hitting the redline and letting off the gas pedal, you'll hear it even while at full throttle while you're not changing gears!
I don't know if anyone else has discovered this (bug/glitch?) before... And I'm sorry I can't show you a replay myself, I don't have anything to record with.
