Lads, our dishwasher hasn't worked for 9 months, and we've given up hope of Whirlpool fixing it after their engineer today not being able to find a big leak on one of the new parts not to mention a horrible buzzing noise.

Some recomendations would be great, bad experiences would be great too, knowing who to avoid is as valuable as knowing who to use.

It needs to be a standard one, ie not slimline, it can't be Beko or Whirlpool though. I've heard Miele are built like houses but that their customer service isn't that good. Experiences of good customer service would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sureshot :)

Why not Bosch? everyone i know who has a Bosch dishwasher, myself included, have never had the slightest problem with one. Miele are v.good but also v.expensive.

Customer service is irrelevant when the product you buy never breaks down.

Don't ask the Solid Lifter's household. We don't own one. Didn't want one, don't need one.

Good luck.

I'd agree with TheCracker - there's nothing wrong with Bosch. our Bosch dishwasher has been solidly reliable since we got it about 5 years ago. Miele however are on another level. We have one of their vacuum cleaners - it's looking a bit beaten up and the cable doesn't retract any more, but what do you expect from a 15+ year old appliance?

Wow.

We have a KitchenAid Superba and it is absolutely phenomenal. I wish they made one that I could drive through to clean my car.

That's a picture of one I found for sale for like 100 bucks.

I also agree with Bosch products being great. We have one of their washing mashines and hoovers and neither have given us any trouble. I even know someone with a really old Bosch dishwasher that still works to this day...

Why can't it be Whirlpool or Bosch? Whirlpool is big here in the states, and I hear Bosch makes fantastic products too. I've never seen anyone over here with a Bosch anything, besides spark plugs.

Yeah, and windshield wipers.

KitchenAid still ftw.

You're probably unlikely to find KitchenAid products for sale in the UK or Europe even though they are owned by Whirlpool/Philips which is sold overhere.

I recommend a purple monkey dishwasher.

My mistake, it's Beko that are part of the same group, not Bosch.

Beko are the same group as Whirlpool? I don't think so... Beko are Turkish for a start.

Can't go wrong with Bosch. We've found Zanussi to be pretty good, too - we had one of their dishwashers for like 16 years, and a washing machine that lasted about the same. And a tumble dryer. In fact, we replaced them all with Zanussis too (apart from the dishwasher which is now a Bosch).

The only thing is, the Bosch we have is at the cheaper end of the scale (Classix or something), and so is a little on the noisy side. It's not the most beautiful appliance in the world either, and looks distinctly "white good"ish. A the end of the day, though, it's a dishwasher and it does its job.

Whirlpool use Beko parts (several of the parts have come in Beko packaging), we won't be using either, especially given that two of the replacement parts have failed.

We can use Bosch btw, that was a typo (I'll go correct it).

Keef, we've been waiting since February to have the dishwasher fixed by whirlpool, one part took 4 months to get here, we won't be using Whirlpool, unless they actually gave use a dishwasher. Bosch seems to be getting some good replies from here.

We have a whirlpool dishwasher and it is now 9 years old.

It has been repaired at least twice. Once it made a loud griding noise when run and that was caused by some part on the motor getting loose and falling down a shaft. The fix-it guy fixed that and a few weeks later we had the same problem, so the motor had to be replaced. We have also had a few other problems, but don't remember exactly what caused them.

The thing I don't understand about the dishwasher is the Jet-Dry, or whatever that blue liquid is that you occassionally have to put into the dishwasher. Ours has the "button" that you press to check the level of Jet-Dry and it is always full. We never have to put more in. This isn't the soap. We have to put soap in for ever load, which is expected.

This is the most problems we have ever had with dishwashers. All of the others haven't had any problems until they totally died when they got old. This was the only dishwasher that we have never purchased ourselves. It came with the house.

Oh, I forgot to mention. It is slow and loud too.

We have a Smeg dishwasher it works great. This is the second one I have owned now (two different houses) in Seven years and I have never had a problem. I have a whole kitchen full of Smeg products and all work faultlessly. As an added bonus I also get to have a Red Dwarf giggle everytime I see the name.

Not wanting a dishwasher? - that's like not wanting a car. Sure, you can walk but it's going to take you much longer.

G.T
I also agree with Bosch products being great. We have one of their hoovers...

Ummm, isn't a Bosch hoover kind of like a Pepsi coke?

On the subject of dishwashers, my sister has a Bosch. It is extremely quiet and does a good job on the dishes, but it is s-l-o-w to run a cycle.

My KitchenAid is approximately 40 years old and still going strong.
