So I'm all for the extra content but i have a question as to how this will work online with the DLC tracks?

In GT5 I find the DLC tracks rarely get used online becuase there's typicaly one or more players who doesn't have them, so we just skip the track. It just feels very segmented, rarely being able to use the stuff online.

So I wonder how this will function in GT6 especially since they say there will be alot more dlc. Will we be able to race with our friends who dont have DLC or not? Will there be a "trial period" or something?
With the talk of DLC track maker themes I have the same question, and I wonder if we will be able to share these custom tracks with non DLC players?

I understand they dont want to give content away, but I'm hoping they can balance it in a way so that the game online isn't segmented as much as GT5 is. For me the DLC tracks would hold alot more value if it they could be used online more often.

I doubt that DLC & Non DLC users will be able to race together (in terms of tracks/ themes). Cars are a different story. In other games that have DLC like COD, I think you get placed into rooms that match yourself with others in terms of what DLC you have available to yourself. I wouldn't be surprised to see PD do something similar to this with GT6 by only making rooms that have the same DLC available visible when in the "open lobby"

It's a good point. I expect it'll end up being the same as Gran Turismo 5 in that regard, but to be honest I think the greater DLC focus will be on cars, so I don't think it should be more of an issue than it was on GT5.

That would actually be a great option as long as we could still join up with our friends without DLC outside of these "DLC rooms".

Don't be too hasty guys. I drove with a guy that didn't have the gokart track dlc. I could still drive with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if the DLC tracks became the same ghost towns that all of the ones in GT5 became.

Hopefully that won't be the case with GT6 :/
We are just going to have to wait and see

Since there will be regularly released DLC, how will they incorporate the tracks into A-spec/career mode, if they are even planning that ??

I'm hoping they can release updated events into A-spec to utilize the track DLC over just time trials and seasonals.

Early on you could race on DLC tracks online but I think they changed it when twin ring dlc released.Because I recall racing on Special Stage Route X before I had it.

Each track pack had a several week period where you could host a room and people could join without the DLC. I remember Kart Space II with full rooms of all sorts of things. 16 people in NASCARs and the whole nine yards. Then they turned off that ability, and the tracks just died online practically overnight (which wasn't good when there wasn't really anything else to do with them).

Motegi never even got that, which is probably why people tend to not even remember that Motegi is even in GT5 now.

My biggest concern is online play in GT6. At least it sounds like all the tracks available for GT5 (original content tracks and DLC tracks) will be included in the GT6 release. But like it's been said, no one uses the DLC tracks in open lobbies. I will still buy them, but probably will not see them used online if the online structure remains as it is now. I think game makers should focus on making a great online experience.

That's the big problem. The same happened in Forza Motorsport.

FM2 got two DLC tracks but not that many people bought them. Turn10 even offered the second track at a reduced price but it didn't solve the problem.

FM3 got one DLC track. Same story, again. Pretty useless online.

FM4 got zero DLC tracks. You can guess why.

So now that its confirmed that DLC tracks will be coming monthly I'm even more curious to see how they will handle it.
