Do AI have varying temperaments like in real life?

Is it just me or is it that when you go to lap another AI car, sometimes they move over and sometimes they arrogantly stick to their line expecting you to go around.

Is this an example of PD's attention to detail?

Some drivers also like to race up on the inside of me while braking if I passed them on the precluding straight.

I'm doing the 24HrsLeMans and some drivers seem to be more well mannered than others

Yes it's true they also like blocking you from passing them or they randomly swerve and cut in front of you.

Sergio Perez much?

Yes i think they have different attitudes depending on they're driving style (cool, hot) because sometimes when i need to pass they just don't move and sometimes they move over. But for some weird reason i think AI s hate me because when i was trying to farm money i always bump them and cheat and now 80% of AIs i race with have bad attitudes.

I encountered this yesterday. Was starting the Le Mans 24 hours and came up to lap the two Dodge Vipers for the first time. The first one moved to the side while the other didn't bother. Perhaps it's got something to do with their temperament, but it might also be depending on where they are on the track, they might behave differently in corners than on straights?

Attention to detail? In the AI? Ha.

Well, sometimes I notice some of them a bit more agressive... Just a bit, buy makes a difference. Even saw some small battles for position. Of course its still FAR from a really good AI.

It's very difficult to confirm or deny whether there's a difference between individual AI names or just slightly different attributes assigned to each car in a race. Some people think there are some differences, personally I doubt it but can't be sure. If you race the same group of AI repeatedly you'll see variances in times and whether they get past one another... although for some reason you'll sometimes see the same crash between the same 2-3 cars occur in the same lap in the same corner in race after race.

They don't use the moving "cool/hot" bar the way they do in B-Spec races, they just run the same pace whether alone or in traffic. The lapping behavior basically comes down to this: They move off of your line on the straight when you are coming up behind them(forcing you to go back and forth to stay in the slipstream) and then when approaching a corner they decide which of 2 lines to take and hold. They'll either give you the inside or the outside, and it seems largely random as the same guy will do it differently each time you lap him.

After lapping different bots in the same corners multiple times you can just learn exactly what they do on either line, and then as soon as they show it you can go the other way round. It's harder when they give you the outside(which is basically blocking you), but you can usually get far enough alongside to make them park and then get past. Sometimes I think you can encourage them to take the outside line by staying to the inside approaching the corner, sometimes I think it's just random.

Agree.

But since i have not done a 24h race yet, i have come up with a question, Do the A.I. have different temperaments and lap times in the night part?

temperaments, no. they get out of the way when being lapped and that direction depends on if it's a left or right turn next. Very predictable and the lap times don't seem to change unless it's raining.

it basically ends up being 24hr's of hotlaps, i did the race in the c-9 stock to try and make it close. ended up 9 to 11 laps up by the end. wasn't very exciting.

The bolded part has not been my experience at all. They do attempt to get out of the way, but I've never noticed any particular tendency for them to take the direction of any corner into account as to how they do it. Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong and they are considering the corner after the one you attempt to pass them at.

If anything, they seem to tend(probably because it's more annoying) to move to the inside of a corner which is effectively blocking you. If your attempt to go around the outside isn't completed by the time their "parking-time" ends, they will then race you as if it is for position. If you do it right you can get by, but it can be very frustrating if they decide they are tired of letting you through.

If you really want to take the inside to go past a lapper, always be prepared to make a quick adjustment to put two wheels on the grass to complete the maneuver when they try to move to the inside for you at the last instant.

Many people do believe that the AI does lap faster at night, and that you can as well. I personally haven't seen it(or either higher grip or power in my own car), but I was never really looking for it either.

The 24-hours of hotlapping problem is mostly down to the lack of cars to race with and the nature of endurance racing itself(particularly with no damage or failures), so you are alone most of the time. If you are way ahead it's because you chose a car too fast, or you drove better than you did during testing(or didn't do enough testing to find out how fast they are including pit stops) or it rained and you didn't want to struggle with full wets(which in at least some cases they still wouldn't be able to keep up, notably with an AWD car). Not that being well ahead is always a terrible thing, most people can't stand the thought of there being a possibility of losing a 2-hour race, let alone a 24. Myself, I wouldn't have considered it worth my time to run any of them if there wasn't a real chance of losing every single one, so I made sure that there was.

It's been a long time since I actually played, but for me the AI all felt alike, and when coming to lap them they all always swerved to block even if it was for me to put them twenty laps down. It's one thing to defend a position, but another to block a much faster car that is twenty laps ahead.

Some may know M. Rossi
He's is a pain in the rear bumper and front bumper and side skirts and any where else he can block or ram you and take you out, luckily for us he don't play GT :D
