everytime i turn to speed, they always have muscle and nascar and stuff like that, i know pinks has some imports in it too but most of the time it's all muscle american cars. i want to know if they have any other car races in speed? like do they have any drifting at all?

i saw street tuner challenge but it's not really my style, i don't really like most of it, it does have imports but like it's not really that fun. i mean i would like some real import show like if they got japanese drifting or anything.

i saw this chick going around giving award on best interior, most tuned engine award and stuff but all of those cars aren't really my style, i mean they gave best interior award to this weird ricey looking stickered car. but yeah.

PS: do you guys know anywhere on where i can download like real episodes of japanese drifting shows or any real japanese racing? what about like world wide racing like le mans or something? you guys know where to download? and what are the name of the shows? thanks.

YOUTUBE. You can find SO many drifting clips there, it's not funny. Legal, and Illegal. Type in "Drifting," "Formula D," or "D1GP" into the search. You'll find PLENTY. Try "JGTC" and "FIA GT" while you're at it. And "BTCC". And "DTM"...Hell just about any racing series you can think of, they have it. I think they even have Lawnmowers.

also, "Best Motoring," "Hot Version," and "JDM Option"/"Video Option" are Japanese tuner shows that you should find easily on Youtube.

On televised programming, I did see a Formula D round on ESPN2 on Thanksgiving. Don't know of anything on Speed.

it isn't full episodes though, youtube have short clips, i want like full episodes. tahnks for the names though.

My best guess and your best bet is to check out NOPI Tunervision and Redline TV on SPEED. I imagine they have some drifting-related stories on those shows from time to time.

Very rarely does Speed show drifting. The best time to catch other forms of motorsport besides NASCAR is at night during the weekends like Friday night since that's when a lot of European races will be starting.

Otherwise, just get lucky.

CAMikaze's pretty much right. NOPI Tunervision is more of a "tuner lifestyle" show even though it vaguely covers the NOPI Import Drag circuit.

Since NOPI now also sanctions professional drifting (and congrats to Bill Sherman and Enjuku Racing for taking the inaugural championship), they'll probably get better about vague coverage of NOPI Drift Events.

Redline TV is another "lifestyle" (God I hate the word AND the concept) show, but it's at least a little more motorsport oriented and has 2007 Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust as the host. There's a decent amount of drifting on it, and (since Tanner's other day job is rally) there's a lot of amateur and SCCA Pro rally stuff going on.

Formula Drift, on the other hand, has a broadcast contract with ESPN and the coverage is topnotch, easily as good as ESPN's classic USAC coverage.

There's a mentality that I've disliked. A quote from "Forza Motorsport Showdown" said it best:

"...what they call drifting is what we call Saturday Night." -one of the competitors on the team or team members

The "Saturday Night" deal relates to sliding around on dirt ovals. The mentality I've disliked was about how there are some people who try to give America credit for everything. So you mean to tell me that Saturday Night on dirt tracks is what the Japanese have called drifting for decades? Just the mentality that (and I know I'm going to get blasted by the general public-at-large on GTPlanet) some Americans' view of the world of racing is NASCAR ovals and dirt ovals... and that every other style of racing (including Formula One, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Bathurst 1000, even the 12 Hours of Sebring, etc.) pale in comparison. So if you think Saturday Night at the dirt track is true drifting (although I do think it's cool watching the cars slide into the turns at dirt tracks), then drifting is covered quite often on Speed... as long as it's on dirt ovals.

I've always linked drifting to rally racing in regards to sliding into corners. Drifting is an aggressive style of driving that rewards good car control and focused driving. There's risk involved, but nothing can be sweeter than going sideways or trying to get around a few switchbacks.

As for drifting action on Speed? Well, there was a one-off deal with Lucas Oil "On the Edge" that featured D1GP (I believe) action at Irwindale Speedway back last year. There was even a drift demo by the Formula D crew on the streets of San José for the San José Grand Prix. Both televised on Speed Channel with the same On the Edge programming. It probably would be best for Speed to televise Formula D because the G4TV coverage was good until they dumbed it down and shown it all weeks to months later. ESPN so far is worse. "Televise it in November when all the action is done." I know a network can't do same-day coverage with drifting, but why wait until the season's done to show these eventually on TV? NASCAR types would want to sue the major TV networks just because they don't get live races in their entirety. Formula D may not be a major series (in regards to prestige and importance to win), but only Speed cares more about racing than networks that PRETEND they know and appreciate racing. Speed is no better with mostly NASCAR and Americana stuff, but you take the good with the bad.

So there's not much in terms of drifting coverage on Speed Channel. You can certainly hope and "petition" Speed to show more drifting, but I think you're not going to be in too much luck of getting all the drifting you crave.

Jeeze.. everytime i turn speed on is Nopi which has drifting and dragging. Yes, its all at night though.

I need to know when actuall races are on, road course only. and when these 24hr' races are on...
