I was looking through my old ps1 games and found An old TOCA game, I remember the cheats you could do for a volcano track.. A weird pink car.. And the tank.. The best :P it's just reminds me how I missed how some old sim games were, it wasn't as much about making billions and living up to the expectations of previous and different areas of the community pressuring the developers to stick to the "winning formula". It's all fair but it comes to the point where no one thinks outside the box when developing games just to give that added bit of fun for the gamers like the tank and volcano track, that would be quite a laugh in gt5 :P

At the point the Gran Turismo series is, they can even go the Need for Speed Underground path with GTA cheatcodes

Things just need a freshen up, same with gt5 and games like call of duty

Are you asking if GT5 should support cheat codes? If so, no I don't think that'd be a good idea at all.

I don't think thats what he is saying. I think he is saying that it needs something new, and different, similar to that.

Maybe the PD created tracks are Kaz's way of doing that.

The problem is, games are much more complex to develop now and take a lot longer to make. One premium car wheel in GT5 has more detail than an entire car in GT2, so there often isn't time to make oddball stuff like tanks and volcano tracks anymore. There's also the issue of the community, many people would be disappointed if PD spent X amount of time making <insert oddball car/track here> rather than working on making <insert highly popular car/track here>.

👍 This.

A volcano?, the other day I was imaging how would a track at the moon would look in GT5, With the earth at the horizon, with earth's gravity and physics though. Would be fun and weird.

There are a lot of race games which think outside the box. Split Second is a great example. When I play games I used to love most of the time they are lacking in some way. It's funny how time filters your memories.

Strictly speaking... one Premium car in GT5, at least counting polygons, is more detailed than every car in GT2. Combined.

(Though, not counting the various RM versions of cars, of course - counting them would actually make GT2 the largest game, car-numbers-wise).

Interesting food for thought :)

I get what you all are saying but all I mean is I miss how sometimes even the most serious of games had a little bit of pointless fun, like if you look at grid and how you could get your car to make everything fly away
