I'm wondering how people feel about cars modified or created by Polyphony Digital. Cars which are based on real world models but with fictional modifications or fictional creations such as the Red Bull X2010/2011, Formula Gran Turismo etc. That's basically what the racing car DLC is all about so I thought a poll would be relevant. Do you like these "Gran Turismo" cars or would you rather they spend their time recreating race modifications which have taken part in real world events?

I do love hem.
PD is doing a great job modifying them with realistic goal, its not over done and can be probably done IRL too.
PD has helped Nissan and some tuner in the past for making real car setup and such, so making a modified car in game shouldnt be that hard for them even if its not based on anyhing.

I like them, but would like real ones too. Alot of them say Gran Turismo on them too.

I think anything new is good. No matter if it's PD's own creation or RL cars. As PD's cars are just as good as normal racecars, the only difference is the lack of sponsors on the livery. :P

If PD would remove every single X2010 from GT5, I would be very happy.
As that ain't ever going to happen, I sure hope they don't add new fictional cars...

I do like the Stealths versions of real cars though.
I prefer real cars, not fictional supersonic ufo's...! ;)

But I bet you still has one of those so called "ufo" 💡

I like, and liked the FGT's and older open wheelers in Gt, because there is still a small form of realism in them.

The X2010 on the other hand. No, when I saw the video of it lapping the Nordschleife in 3.16 or something, my hate for the car started. It's only fun to screw around with and nothing else.

I do love the fictional race cars, it makes GT unique in a landscape of games that are increasingly having the same cars and tracks in them. However, I feel after this DLC, I'd appreciate some ALMS/FIA GT1/FIA GT3 cars and the like. There needs to be a better balance I think. Therefore, I voted option 2.

x2010 is stupid, but the GT race mods to real-world cars are cool. It would be better to have real racecars though.

Better yet would be to get real production cars missing from GT5 as DLC.

As long as they're realistic to today's world or the past, I'm ok with them. The FGT may not be a real world car exactly but it's based on real world F1 cars of the eighties/nineties with a few realistic additions, it's a realistic car.

The X2010, is not. Nothing in the real world even remotely exists like that so I don't want it.

I like them but the X2010 is only fun to take for a spin on the Sunday Cup or Compact Car series and when your screwing around online with a friend.

Like with original tracks, I admire creativity in creating fictional race cars. I'm going to say "I like them but would rather have race cars from real world motorsport events." I'm not going to complain overly just because there aren't more real race cars. Let me go back to comparing other games. I've seen various racing games, like the ToCA Race Driver series and rFactor... not one person complained of any fake race cars. So why GT? Why the fictional race cars in GT? And I don't even see the fake race cars as filler for a car list (like most people see all the Standard cars). That even includes the Formula Gran Turismo. I'm very much into these fictional cars for one reason- identity. Cars unique to a certain game and a certain atmosphere. It offers some identity. Without them, it would be just another no personality racing game.

How did you know about the Red Bull X2012 already? :sly:

Seriously, I think its interesting to have concept hypercars in the game, but I'd really like to have more Premium LMRs.

I like them so, PD, keep them coming. Just don't overloaded it with fictional cars though.

I would love too if PD can get more real world race car in. 👍

I like them, but the fact they don't exist is offputting.

I have no desire to race fictional cars in any game.

If the car is fun to drive, then I don't care at all.

I like the RM models annd so on.

The FGT an the X2010 is not really my taste.
But the same goes for the F2007 and F2010

So for me it's yes and no

BTW: I voted for "like them but would rather have real world race cars"

Any new cars are good in my book.

I really just want single seaters and race cars, if the only way to get these types of cars is with Gran Turismo made ones I'm happy with that. The X1 for example is stunning.

There is so many forms of Motorsport that could be added to the game, such as GP2, Indycars and maybe even classic Ferrari F1 cars if they can't get the F1 licence but made up cars are perfect too.

I just want more cars, I'll buy em all! :)

I don't know if I would count RM's as "fictional". They're very real, just customized to a racing spec.

In theory, the RM and new Touring cars are the same as the Pagani Zonda R....
They are race cars not built to any specific class or specs, just built to enjoy... That's just my opinion though. ;-)

I don't mind the X10/11 being in the game.... they may not "exist" but based on the video about them, they are most definitely based on real physics and the theory behind them is sound, it's a cost reason for why they don't exist. I just don't find them remotely fun to drive.

True, but the RM cars represent making your own race car from an already existing one.
The new touring cars represent fictional racing cars.(Or real cars they couldn't be bothered to replicate)
The Zonda R is an unmodified real car.

True, but the OP also states the DLC cars as fictional.
They are basicaly also RM models of exicting models.

For the record, I agree with you that they would count as real cars, but to answer the OP I had to shift a little ;)

RMs are fictional in the sense that their specifications are not based on real world counterparts. Just like the X2010 etc. they have been created from a "what if?" idea or question.

Some fictional more cars rooted more in reality would be nice. None of this fantasy X11~12 or Nike *n-n-ngh* car business. One that immediately springs to mind is the Devil Z. Also, GT3's 'fictional' F1s, please.

Kaz -- make it so.

The X2010 is a very nice concept, but doesn't really belong in this game.
But who knows if PD ever plans its own interpretation of Wipeout, then it would be perfect for that purpose.

On the other hand I like the FGT, the Tank Car, the karts and all the other Gran Turismo branded stuff they brought out as they do fit in the GT5 idea. And I don't mind them coming up with new alike stuff.

I like them. But only to a point in style. I don't mind the X2010 and X2011, as they were a 'what if' design. What I DO NOT want futuristic hovering cars, as to me, it isn't realistic and in my opinion, I would rather see REAL cars.

I voted no because if you give me a fictional car you should give me a livery editor to paint this FICTIONAL car they way I want. Just like I can do with GTR2 and many other simulators.

So NO, give us real motorsport cars if you don't want we paint them.

If the car is fun to drive, then I don't care at all.
So what's the point of GT5 we all should play Life For Speed than.
