UnoMOTO posed this question in the premium forum... after a half dozen premium members were spamming it out of boredom of work. It's rather messy.

GTPlanet, do you post here, other forums, play internet games, read websites, etc while at work or school when you're bored?

During class? No. But I'm "at school" all of the time, so... maybe?

Ditto.

When you live on or near the campus, there’s really no reason to surf the web during class – you might as well go home and do it where you won’t distract anybody.

And at work I’m usually too busy to surf the web.

Hell flippin yes!

I actually get paid to fool around while at work. :D

As for school I'm not there long enough to want to go online unless it's something really pressing.

When i'm bored i play online games of visit this site during classes.
And i have mandatory classes which can get boring, so i can't stay at home for those ;)

Our school gave up blocking sites, because we could often find a way around it.
(that's the price for them having an IT course :) )

At work I do a little. Not so much when I've got an interesting project to work on (particularly one that keeps me away from my desk :p ), but definitely if it's a slow day or during coffee break, or near the end of the day, etc. I think it's kind of expected of me to do so though, or at least it isn't frowned upon by my immediate supervisor - I'm employed as a student, so there isn't always work available to be handed down to me, and my boss sends me odd little sites totally unrelated to work just to give me a laugh if he realizes I'm bored.

There is a little bit of a silent battle between me and the IT staff though. There's a corporation wide block on GTP and gmail and a bunch of other sites I frequent, so I spend time finding proxies or weird little loopholes in their best efforts to shut me down.

www.unblockguide.info is the proxy I'm using right now to access GTP. I'm really surprised they haven't blocked it yet - I've been using it for two weeks now, and normally they catch me in about 2 days.

http://www.gmail.com is blocked, as is https://www.gmail.com... but https://mail.google.com/mail works just fine :sly:

I don't think this question applies to university - I'm just wasting my own time there. :D

I'm at school right now. But I surf between classes -- I don't even have a class where we sit in front of computers.

My workplace has a single phone line and a 56k modem that is only able to properly connect about half of the time, at about 26.6k. When it actually works, I can go anywhere I want on the internet...as long as that's NamcoArcade.com or NamcoArcade.info.

all the time. makes me fail classes  it's the only site good that isnt blocked.

I'm at work between 6 and 12 hours a day and I'm usually signed in to gtp the whole time... I post more at work then I do at home

Pretty much any time I'm in front of a computer, I'm fooling around on the internet. So that would be a yes, maybe, i guess a yes.

I'm almost always on between my classes. I'll probably stay signed in if I ever start bringing my computer to class as well.

Nope. GTP is blocked at work, so I just look at various other forums I'm on that aren't blocked instead. Or Wikipedia.

I rarely post on GTPlanet from home. Only when someone really has me going on the opinions board.

Yeah, its sort of a culture to post and get into sites like these when you're not supposed to. My school blocks Miniclip, Addicting Games, I Am Bored, and probably any that is any online game place. They once blocked GTP but for some reason its fine now. What's wierd is sometimes they block Yahoo! and Google.

Yes, although I don't think I'd do it at work. If I had a job, of course. It depends what you mean by "fool around", because in just about every class last year the words "computer room" were synonymous with going on Myspace (or in our school's case, Bebo...), checking your webmail (ALWAYS Hotmail) or visiting the latest video site that hadn't been blocked yet. It was just something everyone did. You didn't go near a PC without going online.

Of course, that was last year. This year, who knows. Most probably not in class.

GTP? Nope. It's blocked and always has been.

During class: I play games, typically Diablo II or SimCity 4, I also screw around on the internet. Granted this is only during the really boring classes I already know what I'm doing in anyways. Like physics 101, I just screwed around the whole time and I still got a 4.0.

In between classes: I might check my e-mail or use the net for studying, but typically I go to the gym.

At work: Of course, I have an easy job...I manage eBay sales and do other odds and ends.

So to answer the question...yes I do fool around on the net.

I hop on the 'Net a couple times each day at work. I don't know anyone who doesn't. There's always plenty of work to do, but you've gotta take a breather every so often.

One of the first things I do at work - besides getting some cacao from the automat:dopey:- is going to the youtube site looking for the latest onboard videos from F1, WRC or just some crash compilations.

The E-Net is just too addictive to ignore at work, I even work harder and faster to get some free time at work to watch some videos.:scared:

I also listen to music sometimes which I loaded to my work computer with my USB, I have a tiny earclip on one of my ears and run winamp in the background. But I wouldnt call that fooling around since I work during listening.

I haven't been at school for two or three years or something like that now. I also can't play around at work, so that's a no.

However, when I was back in school I used to play around on GTP, mainly in Software Design & Development or IT. Though, we used to just all play Counter-Strike all lesson more often than play on the internets.

At school i mostly just check GTP and Gmail (when it isn't blocked that is), and at work its just the same.

It's pretty easy to get around website bans by finding the sites ping, but that is only useful in getting to one page, not to the links contained in the website. I guess if you really wanted to you could get the ping for individual youtube videos and such, but that would become very annoying, especially with the inability to ctrl-v into an ms-dos program.

Between classes at school I'll get on from time to time. Philly and I had a conversation between G-Rap and Holland the other day (we're only a half-hour apart now) while I was waiting to go to World in Crisis, and now that all my computer stuff is sorted out at school, I'll probably do things like that far more often.

As for actually doing it at work, thats a no. Steve and Barry's doesn't really have a good way for me to do it without being caught, thusly, I don't go about doing so.

...Although, it would seem as though checking sports scores are okay if I borrow the Boss' computer for a minute, as they took away our Satelite TVs here...
