I was wondering how many of you buy this mod in GT4. It says that it may cause some cars to understeer more. When do you know when to not increase rigidity?

I'm cautious to do it because it looks like once it's done, it's done. On the other hand though, it's an upgrade that doesn't effect A-Spec points.

Let me know what you think

Thanks

I add it to all production cars, but not the race cars. It seems like race cars would be stiff enough as is, and I don't want to take a chance on making them understeer more.

I'm glad I didn't add it to the two Pescarolos I bought, because they're perfect without it. Maybe I'll buy another one and see if it makes a difference.

I add it to any vehicle I plan to race, including my outstandingly good Pescarolos c60, I have yet to notice it make a car tight to a point that I could not tune it and make the car faster than before.

Does it actually make a difference? I've avoided adding it to anything so far, because I have wondered whether I'd notice the change, so bang-for-buck, I always buy something else.

I do it based on my knowledge of the gains of adding a roll cage in real life, but I need to stop assuming that GT4 and real life are on the same page.

I do it on my used cars. Older cars tend to have weaker chassis. So I do it based on that. The roll cage really help to reduce my R32's tendency to snap oversteer. So it does have some effect.

Here's what the rigidity addon is all about. Go outside and grab a tree branch about 1/4-1/2 inch in diameter. Now start bending it back and forth at the same point over and over again. Pretty soon it'll start to come apart and break right? Well, steel is similar to wood in that it has a grain. Continuing to flex metal at critical points will eventually cause it to weaken, maybe even break. The rigidity addon stiffens the cars to the point that they resist flexing over long periods of driving. Not necessary on race cars, and should only be bought and installed on cars that have high miles, i.e.; used cars, or ones that you drive for every race possible and rack up alot of miles on.

Its basically what is stated above (great example by the way 👍 ). The reason for the understeer warning is that the car chassie doesnt absorbe the weight transfer as much when this mod is done (in real life, the car does absorb weight transfer and cornering forces etc etc and the result is what is stated above). The effect of weight transfer when cornering goes (more or less) straight to the suspension componentry.

This can sometimes cause understeer but just softening up the spring rate and playing around with the dampers should dial this out and ultimately make your car g faster (should, not always).

I generally add it to high milage cars (even race cars that have had high milage).

I always do it, no matter if the car is new or not. for example, my Ford RS200 was bit stiff at turns, lots of understeeding and so on. but when I stiffened the chassis, it turned into a go-kart and I finally got my favourite car, Pug 205 T16 evo2!
