Uhh, yeah, or else you get that watery crap on top, which is the first thing to come out all over your burger. :yuck:

TS
First, there is no 'd' in refrigerate,

:ouch: Where's that spell checker when I need it...

I'm actually surprised everyone thus far refrigerates theirs. I don't do it with mine because that way it actually has a good taste.

You're supposed to refrigerate after opening to prevent early spoiling.

What?! Refrigerate ketchup? No way. The layer of water on top isn't nice, but two seconds of shaking sorts that out.

If anything, i like it when you get warm ketchup/bbq sauce in restaurants.

Ketchup?...... Ah you mean tomato sauce, no never refrigerate it, never shake and never get watery crap on the top.

I refrigerate because I just don't use that much ketchup. One bottle will last me six months.

But Tomato paste is not tomato sauce.

Then tell me what is this Tomato sauce you refer to?

Whats the difference and what do you do with it.

*EDIT* I think I know what you are talking about now, in that case we get Spaghetti sauce and also sometimes also called tomato sauce here.

Both Ketchup and Catsup goes in the ice box after opening. As well does the Mustard (three kinds: French's Classic Yellow, Bertman's Ballpark and Stadium Mustard.)

As you can tell, I'm more of a Mustard fan.

Oh, Mustard, BBQ sauce and a dash of Jack Daniels is awesome stuff. Try it!

Yes, I refrigerate my ketchup. And I hate it. I like warm ketchup, like in the restaurants. But my mom says "it'll go bad if yo leave it out." Maybe. The eateries usually do only have a bottle per day per table. Hell, my buddies and I went through one bottle just for the four of us!

Yes, Applebee's was delicious this time too, but I can't figure out if it's the food or the hostess girl.

I don't normally put mine in the fridge, but my roomate does - and we share that bottle. I don't mind the taste either way to be honest. Anyways, I put myself in the no category.

My girlfriend freaks when I leave ketchup (and syrup, and jam) in the cupboard. She thinks that if it says 'keep refrigerated' then you have to keep it refrigerated....
I prefer to live on the wild-side and see what happens when you don't.

All of the sudden, this thread becomes very important to me.

Like Keef brought it up, I also prefer the room-temperature ketchup. Is this safe? Boundary Layer don't refrigerate his ketchup, and he sounds normal most of the time.

It's probably a longer life thing, rather than an actual health hazard, I doubt anyone has a ketchup bottle open long enough for it to become a health hazard. Depending upon the heat of course, in a cool dry cupboard you'd be fine. If it was sitting in the heat on a hot summers day however the process would increase and it wouldn't last as long.

I refrigerate mine.

It has that many preservatives in it i doubt it would go off if kept at room temparature. I don't know about anyone else, but i only use ketchup on warm food. Warm food and cold sauces is just wrong in my book.

I despise ketchup. I'm a BBQ sauce man. So, no, I don't refrigerate my ketchup. I do, however, refrigerate my BBQ Sauce, so I'll vote yes.

Refrigerate or bust. It's great when your fries are too hot, you can eat them sooner if the ketchup cools them down.
