Do you sleep good?

Anyone who can't sleep isn't tired enough. I sleep gooooood all the time.
Not true, ever heared of insomnia? I geenrally sleep well, once I'm asleep anyway, sometimes I go to sleep quick, if I've got something on my mind though I can be lying awake in bed for hours. I can't sleep on planes, trains, coaches or in cars so I have been awake for over 24hrs a few times, anad believe me I've been tired.

NOPE!

I'm working nights right now, and if that isn't bad enough, I live at a corner with a stop sign and the bus route goes right down my street, which means all day long I hear buses and transport trucks stopping and going every 20 minutes. I'm lucky to stay asleep for half an hour at a time, and if I stay in bed longer then 4 hours, its a miracle. :(

Sleeping 'good'?

Well, if that simply means sleeping is rather relaxing than staying awake I must be having some sleeping problems.

To be honest, I go to bed at around 9.30-10.30pm and it will usually take me till 12.00pm to get to sleep...:indiff:

The best thing to do is to count sheep and you will be in sleep in no time

My sleeping patterns are normally something like go to sleep at 3-7am and get up 10am-4pm.

Really need to change my bodyclock before I get a job after christmas.

Don't try giving that snippit of advice to any of our Welsh (or New Zealand) members - they'll be 'up' all night :sly:

I did try counting once when I was in school, just to see if it worked. When I got to 1000 I gave up. If it's a night where I'm struggling to get to sleep not much will help. Once it's gone past 4:00 I usually go downstairs and put a movie on. Sometimes I'll fall asleep on the couch while I'm watching it.

I sleep well, as long as I have time to get in about 8-9 hours.

Last few nights, with it being the end of the semester, I only got about 6-7 hours. May seem like a lot for some people, but ouch.

6-7 is about what I get most nights, and usually 8-9 on a Friday or Saturday night.

I used to not sleep very well because I suffer from sleep apnea. Basically, when I sleep my throat muscles relax too much and restricts my airways. It causes me to snore extremely loud and my blood pressure would shoot dangerously high. When I woke up I would feel like I had been running a marathon because my heart would be punding and I was still exhausted. It wasn't uncommon for me to try and get 12 hours of sleep only to fall asleep in class/at work.

But then I was diagnosed and treated. I use a CPAP machine at night, which makes me look like an elephant man with a mask and 6 foot hose hanging off my face, but it is worth it. When I did the sleep study we foudn that my brain never went into a state of rest because it had to actively wake me up to remind me to breath roughly twice a minute. This seemed to make sense to me as I couldn't remember having any dreams in a long time.

Now that I use my CPAP machine I can get 6 hours of sleep and wake up feeling refreshed, assuming it is undisturbed. I also have dreams all the time now and my blood pressure has dropped back into normal levels.

I also have a great sleep-related talent. Well, it amazes my wife at least. I can basically go to sleep anywhere, at anytime. Sitting in a waiting room? I'll just take a nap. Sitting thorugh one of my wife's horrid chick flicks? I'll just take a nap. Completely bored and have nothing to do? I'll just take a nap. Want to get out of some sort of work or obligation? I'll take a nap and play sick. Beautiful day and an empty hammock? Definitely a nap.

Or alternatively, count pills.

I sleep well, but I sometimes end up staying up until 2am.

I go to sleep between 12pm and 1 am (sometimes 2 pm).
Reading is something i always do to make my eyes get tired and once I'm asleep i stay asleep.
Also, I wake up at the time that i want to wake up, meaning that if I set the alarm at 8:30 i wake up at 8:15, unless i'm really tired.
A lot of the time it also works without the alarm, but i set it just in case :)
I automatically wake up early at days when i have school or when i want to do something and wake up late on the other days.

I can sleep in cars and buses, but i rarely do that because i often have an headache afterwards. (and i'm afraid i don't wake up on time in a bus)

Mentally, yes. It's rare for me to take my troubles to sleep.

Physically, no...having a pregnant wife in the same bed as you resembles losing control of a car down the side of a mountain.

I can't sleep worth a darn in an airplane, for some reason. I have to be nearly passed out to sleep in a car, too.

I sleep at around 11 everynight and i set my alarm to 7:12 in the morning. The part of the day i hate most is early morning. I hate waking up and i feel really sleep until around 10am. But even though im getting around 8 hours of sleep, i still feel tired during the day. Is there something wrong with me? Maybe i should give coffee a try.

Im yawning as im typing this. Somtimes i wish i can take a nap during the day. But if i take a nap, then i end up sleeing later at night which means less sleep time :(

I rarely enjoy good sleep, but when I do I know it. A couple times recently I've woken and said "Damn, that was awesome!" and then I went back to sleep immediately. Funny thing is, when I go back to bed I usually awake with my back hurting really bad.

Last night I slet great until about 1 am (I went to bed at 8 pm because I was so sleepy). But when I woke up at 1 I couldn't go back to sleep until about 6 am. I just layed there, bored as crap, but too lazy to do anything.

Usually I fall asleep on my side, almost on my stomach and roll over soon after I fall asleep to spend most of the night on my back.

When I am really tired, I dont roll over and can barely walk when I wake up because my back hurts so badly.

An orthopedic pillow top mattress will do you wonders man. Although they're a little expensive for some, you can sort of recreate the feeling by adding a layer of foam onto your bed. Pretty good investment if you ever wake up with back pains. 👍

I must have slept rather well last night -- I swear I sleep-walked (slept-walked?) over to my alarm clock to hit snooze before returning to bed, not waking up until the second time it went off. Either that, or I endured 16 minutes of alarm ringing.

I'm terrible at waking up. I have to set my alarm to at least an hour before the time when I need to get up, and I have to have the clock itself on the opposite side of the room from my bed, or I'll just hit snooze until I wake up 2 hours after I was supposed to.

Even with that extra hour and the clock on the opposite side of the room, I still repeatedly hit the snooze button for the whole hour before frantically getting up and scrambling out to the car to eventually make it to class 5 minutes late.

I don't sleep that well. I'm always keeping myself half-sleeping in order for me to be able to sleep when I go to bed. I used to stay up for an hour or two after going to bed, and still do sometimes.

I can't sleep well these days for some reason, I can never fall asleep no matter how tired I'm feeling, it'd take me an hour or more to fall asleep just lying in my bed. On weekdays I go to bed at around 12am and fall asleep by around 1-1:30ish then I'd have to wake up at 7:30am for school.

I have troubles falling asleep, most likely due to stress. However, when the alarm clock isn't set, I can get some nice sleeping time.

Where do you get 7:12? Why not a round number like quarter after?

Yeah, I hate waking up too. I get so comfortable in my bed under my covers, but we have to get up.

About being so tired: Do you snore? Do you know if your legs twitch/kick in the night? Do you have any other breathing problems such as asthma or allergies?

Just checking because if you snore or twitch a lot you may be dealing with apnea, but it is highly uncommon in someone as young as you. If you have something that keeps you from breathing properly though you could be having troubles resting.

It could also be stress or even just a bad bed. Do you sleep better on other beds or even a sofa? Are there things around you that could keep you from resting, such as noises?

Do you have trouble going to sleep because you can't stop thinking about all the stuff you have to deal with during the day?

I can't give you an answer but answering some of these questions could help you tell your doctor what is going on. It could be as simple as changing pillows/sheets or you may need to just do something to relax before bed.

Funny thing is, when I go back to bed I usually awake with my back hurting really bad.
You shifted to a less comfortable position and fell asleep before you realized it.

No matter when I wake up I go back to sleep, I don't care. I have woken up with 3 minutes left before my alarm goes off and I roll back over to go to sleep because I am getting my sleep.

I suggest this:

I have the Tempurpedic 2" mattress cover and pillow. It is wonderful. Now I have to take my pillow with me wherever I go. It is nice to do a ton of yard work and come in with my sore back and know that after a shower and a good night's rest my back doesn't hurt anymore.

On the other hand: I have tried the Sleep Number beds and I don't like it, but it was the older ones and they might be different now.

The most fantastic thing though is when you wake up in the weekend, not realising it's weekend and you're thinking: "Holy ****! I again forgot to set me darn alarm! Arrrgh!" Then you run downstairs, and suddenly....*PING* Oh yeah, it's weekend!

And there's the moment you realise you love your bed
