I have recently realized that I "save" my expensive cars and try to race cheap ones that can be tuned a lot because chassis repair is so expensive... I kinda feel guilty driving them knowing I will have to dump 500k into repairs just after a few races... that's also the reason why I haven't tried online yet... how are the payouts there? If they are the same as GT5, I can see having to repair the car after one racing session while winning 3k lol... the ridiculous repair costs are crazy... I have cars and I can't even race them cause it costs more to run it than you win unless you are racing in I-A or S... I would be fine with old payouts, I think they were just fine before 1.02... I like working hard to buy the car... but when I own it, I want to be able to race it... not have it sit in the garage while I'm trying to win with beaters that are cheap to repair...

I've finished the game, done a whole bunch of online racing and a fair chunk of grinding and am now doing endurance style races in arcade mode in order to practice for an online race and I've never, with any of my cars, had to repair the chassis...

Am I the only one?

I even had my x2011 prototype grinding around daytona in order to do the distance trophy

I played online exclusively in GT5. I did not want to bother with credits at all. My solution was to never save. After I finished racing, I copied an old save over GT5's autosaving, so my cars all have 0 miles. The only cars with mileage were dedicated A/B-Spec and seasonal grinders.

Nope, you're not alone. I think some people see that little yellow indicator in the pit service screen and think they need to restore the chassis, perhaps the car is a bit slower than it once was as well but all it really needs is an oil change ;)

The game will tell you the rigidity is starting to deteriorate somewhere around 300-350 miles. If you changed the oil when you first got the car then by this time your oil will have started to drop off and your power will be down which of course makes the car slower. The pit service does not tell you that your oil needs changed at this point but will tell you about the chassis.

I have driven over 11k miles so far and have over 500 miles on a few cars, over 350 miles on a lot of cars and they all drive just as good as they did when new. As a test I even went out and bought a new car, tuned it the same as the one I already had, changed the oil in both then took them to the track 1 car brand new 0 miles and the other had been showing rigidity deterioration for the last 300 miles and was showing 633 miles. As I suspected both cars turned the same lap times

My gtr started losing power and became uncontrollable by around 420-430 miles... maybe different cars show deterioration differently?
