It's not the first time it's been called that, "Scat Pack" was the name Chrysler gave all the go fast Mopar's back in the '60s as a joke

This thing rivals Bugatti for length and oddness of name. I keep humming 'I'm the Scat Man' now too.
I've seen more ridculous names, those who have played the game Blur will probably remember that while most of the cars were given short names (the C3 Corvette Stingray was just called "C3"), there just HAD to be one:
"BMW X5 XDrive48i M Sport"

also: "bwee bup-bup badup bop, bup-bup badop bop..."

I hate when they do that. Give me the whole proper name or don't include the car

What exactly is the shaker doing? It looks like its cosmetic only.
It's directly attached to the mass air flow system (which would be a carburetor on an old car). At full throttle it opens flappers on the scoop that feed air directly into the intake instead of through a filter. It's le running no filter. Good for a few horses because no air resistance.

You could have said that it was the intake for the engine.

The intake and shaker assembly are 2 entirely Seperate components.
