Two particular favorites of mine are Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (3rd part especially) and Pachelbel's Canon in D...

(Does Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Wizards in Wonderland count? :dopey: )

Any others?

Classical isn't bad but I don't listen to it for personal enjoyment. Not my style I guess...

Yup I have a bunch of it on my computer, I'll listen to it once in a while. Also I've been to a couple of performances by the Detroit Symphony and really enjoyed it.

But my favorite piece has to be Mozart's Carmina Buranah, very powerful I must say.

Actually written by Carl Orff, and lacking the 'h'.

I really like classical music too. This is an oft-repeated phrase of mine, but Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto is the best piece of music ever written, in my book.

I enjoy classical music...esp. after a stressful day at the office, i know nothing of the compossers but I enjoy it never the less....my mom used to put it on when I was younger, but she called it her ' Bugs Bunny' music.. ( the barber episode ), especially as a musician I enjoy it even more.

I lsten to a fair amount of classical music. My faves are Rachmaninoff - first and foremost, then Bach, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Handel, Greig, and a host of others.

GT5 has made me like it even more, that "Cannon" song is just plain funky
You mean Canon in D Major by Pachelbel? Or, do you mean the song with cannons in it (Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture)?

A few favorites:

Antonin Dvorak - New World Symphony
Vivaldi - Four Seasons
Aaron Copland - Rodeo and Appalachian Spring
Bach - Brandenburg Concertos

I'm an opera fan, myself.

When I was young, my parents were subscribers to the Lyric Opera of Chicago. They'd go see 8-10 operas a year. When I turned 10 or so, my parents started taking me once per year, twice if there was a special occasion. I saw Luciano Pavarotti sing on his birthday, which was a really cool thing-- everyone in the hall sang 'happy birthday' to him after the curtain calls.

But I digress.

My wife and I have been subscribers to the Fort Worth Opera Company (actually a well-respected company), and we've got definite likes & dislikes. Late 19th and early 20th century composers are our favorites.

Something really cool that I heard recently is the East Village Opera Company. They take operatic arias and play them as rock anthems-- if you weren't listening closely enough, you'd think it was Queen. :)

I hated classical music when I was growing up. My mom was a classical piano teacher, so it was pretty much shoved down my throat. I did enjoy some Mozart and Beethoven. In the 90's, I discovered how classical music could be serene and calm in a really good way. Nothing comes close to Bach for me. Air and Jesu - Joy of Man's Desiring is just perfect. I'd like to explore more in this genre of music. 👍
