My vaio notebook gets really hot and the fan never turns on. Its ok when I'm at home, seeing as how I have a cool pad, but when I am at school it gets REALLY REALLY hot, and the fan never turns on. Is there a way that I can adjust that?

It could just be the notebook, my HP also gets stupidly hot if I'm running games or anything on it, and the fan never appears to go on.

It would be best to get a program like Everest or anything that can record system temps, and post them here, and see if it is indeed overheating or if 'REALLY REALLY HOT' is still within the systems tolerances.

My HP has the same problem, but my fan is on, just not doing it job to well:

Bloody hell, that's a notebook? I'd think anything over 75-80 is very, very bad.

Possibly try SpeedFan, to get your temperatures and alter your fan speeds if so desired.

I've only once got the temperatures of my (desktop though) processor over 75 degrees of Celsius and the sound I got from the speakers resembled a nuclear reactor exploding alert. Those temperatures certainly don't look normal or healthy.
