Does anyone know what to use to connect to the LAN Network connection?

i got my ethernet cable, PS2, GT4, GT Auto Setting 16, and AC adaptor cable and all that stuff. Can someone tell me why i cant connect?:nervous: :indiff:

Someone post this please!!!!!:(
 
Your trying to connect 2 PS2's Right?....lan isnt on-line if thats what your going for. Unless you have xLink

An ethernet switch is a necessity for connecting more than 2 PS2s or PSTwos together for a LAN event.
Famine is well versed in how this all comes together from his experiences in making the last few UKGTP events run smoothly.

Next: What precisely is it you're trying to connect to? Another PS2? A selection of other PS2s? An internet connection?

A LAN is a Local Area Network
The internet is a Wide Area Network

This is going to be more difficult than you thought, and I cannot help as I have no experience in connecting a PS2 to either.

Okay. To connect GT4 to the internet you need several other things than what you have.
1. PS2 (slim or brick with adapter)
2. RJ45 ethernet cable.
3. Router.
4. PC with XLink Kai installed.

When you have these things, then you can connect GT4 to the internet by the means dking stated earlier on.
 
You can not connect that easily to other games over the internet. Please use the search function of this forum to find out more about XLINK. The inbuilt LAN only allows the connection to a local network.

I have D-Link but no router or X-Link. How much do they cost? How do they look like?

X-Link Kai is a free downloadable programme. It is "tunnelling" software, that makes your PS2 think your PC is another PS2.

A router is a little box into which you can plug a phoneline and more than 1 RJ45 Ethernet cable. The router connects your PC to your PS2 and costs around £8/$15 for a simple 4-port router.

That Gives detailed instructions on how to connect with someone else....Of course...The other person needs to be connecting with you too....You must coordinate connections....If you are just connecting I highly doubt your sucess in connecting with someone else. Xlink takes a little patience but once its up and running its great! you can't beat gt4 "online"

ok i just downloaded winRAR to extract the XLink Kai.zip and registered for www.teamxlink.co.uk but i still cant download XLink Kai. What should i do?:nervous: :scared:

What do you mean "you can't download"? What happens when you go to the download page, select your version and click on the button "download"?

If you have WindowsXP you don't need to download anything to extract .zip files.

Go to here and select your OS. Then click "Download" and the download should start. It'll download as an .msi file, which, when opened, uses the Windows Installer to install it on your system.
