Does clutch + H-Shifter actually have use?

This might seem like a strange question but hear me out:

I've bought a G25 especially for GT6, just so I could enjoy the added realism. Truth be told, I LOVE the wheel but I cannot seem to grasp the concept of shifting, especially with the clutch. Now, before giving me any advice (which I propably need a lot!), I want to give you an example of where it goes wrong with the clutch with me.

I drive the 500pp Clubman Cup with an Acura NSX, the race at Matterhorn, and after trying way too many times I've finally won it using Clutch and H-Shifter. Only problem is, Matterhorn requires the player to constantly shift back to first, then up to second, back to first, second, third, back to first... I guess you get the picture. But the amount of misshifts I get from going from first to second gear is literally unbelievable!

It almost feels like GT6 misshifts on a random basis, like I haven't got control over it at all. What could this be? Now, I have tried to test the randomness by stopping the car, pressing nothing but the clutch and moving the shifter up and down first and second gear. Turns out, there is no randomness, it totally works.

So the problem should be my shifting, which I should practise but honestly, is it worth it? Completely letting of the gas (which second gear really requires, different than the higher gears), pressing the clutch, shifting and having a 50 percent chance it works, is it really worth it? Don't you think this method takes away the advantage one can have with shifting with clutch, because you have to let go off the gas (I know you can keep it pressed for 20 percent or something, more for higher gears, but that lowers the chance of shifting even more)?

So there's my question: is there some way to remedy this problem and more importantly, is it worth it? Is it my fault, or is it that GT6's clutch system is broken beyond repair?

What should I do? I don't get much enjoyment out of clutch shifting this way because winning feels more like being lucky than actually driving good? Should I just use the H-Shifter without the clutch?

What are your opinions on this?

I have never driven a car in real life, by the way, so all the shifting I do I learned from either myself or you guys talking about it...

First of all its not your fault, its a well known issue on GT, many in this forum have reported that it works fine in any other racing/driving game. I myself own a G27 but I guess that there is no difference to a G25 in this regard.

Personally, I avoid using the Clutch (and H-shifter) when I am racing online. Because although you can get used to the weird functionality GT provides, I´m too ambitious to run the risk of misshifting in an (important) online race :D.

I still love to use the clutch in offline mode races; free-runs and even Seasonal Time Trials.

And I hate that in GT6 there are certain cars that simulate a sequencial shifter after you installed a fully customizable transmission, which disables the clutch. That wasn´t the case in GT5.

I´d recommend to keep using the clutch and H-shifter whenever you can, it really is a lot of fun all in all and adds to the realism. But if you struggle switch to the paddles or H pattern w/out clutch, no one will talk down on you if you do. Just look at the leader boards of the seasonals... ;)

Edit: As for Matterhorn, given the case you mean Rotenboden (the long layout), it is really only necessary to shift down to first at the one very tight left curve, the underpass. Try to do stay in 2nd for the other turns.
