Does Horizon play well with a steering wheel?

I tried playing with the old Microsoft Wireless Wheel and was doing very poorly. Switched back to the pad and did much better. This was with default settings for the wheel. In contrast, when trying F1 2013 with the wheel laptimes were improved with a short amount of practice. Due to the arcade like nature of the physics is Horizon easier to control with wheel or pad?

I know this is an older game but hopefully this message will be read by someone. If not I suppose same question could be asked in more active Horizon 3 forum.
