does milliage count?

Each car has its own odometer. You can see the miles on the car from your garadge. You can even sort your cars by milage. Pretty spiffy ...

Milage does a little wear and tear to the engine. There is no damage done to the actual cars though. The cars will need an occational oil change. You can do this (and get a car wash and new wheels (not tires)) from the GT Shop. It's the icon in the lower left corner of the Simulation menu screen. When you're at the oil change screen, there is a big bar on the left. Bright green is good, brown is bad. Oil changes are only 250 CR (USA), so most people change their oil quite frequently. If you don't, the horse power on your engine will go down pretty rapidly, and you'll notice it in the races.

Actually, your HP goes up a little as you put mileage on the cars, in a "breaking in" period. Then it levels off for a while. After that the HP slowly declines as your miles increase.

Well it doesn't do a very good job of simulating a 200+ MPH head on collision with a brick wall ...

Or a car doing a wheelie and accelerating to over 1000 MPH.

the mileage factor is a little exaggerated in GT3...

in real life, you begin to feel a slight difference at around 30000+ miles, whereas in the game it is around 750 miles....but then again...who the can get to 30000 miles in gt3??

My cars don't last as long, but that's from my into-the-red way of driving. When I buy a car, I give it an oil change, and with my driving I get 5-10 more HP(over the HP from the Oil Change).

My cars only last like 550 miles, and then the HP goes away, but that's from the way I drive. Sometimes, if you're doing a series race and the change oil light comes on, just keep going and when you change the oil, you should get an increase over what it was to begin with.

From what I've seen, the oil changes are required sixteen times as frequently ( 187.5 * 16 = 3000 ), and break-in happens within ~200 miles as opposed to 1000.

The car seems to get "tired" quick though. I started losing HP before I even hit 1000 miles That effectively means that any car that competed in the final series will be trashed afterwards, and not just 'cuz of the lack of fresh oil.
