Does Nitrous take away engine power?

I've been wondering about this for a while. When I first started the game, I noticed a substantial horsepower drop on Nismo 400R GT-R that I had. I made oil changes to the oil often and never let up. But it seemed somewhere between 5k-6k of miles on the car, I got a big drop on my engine. Then it happened again at around 7500 miles. After that the damage leveled off. Ever since that incident, I've forgone nitro and been afraid to use the upgrade since. I've only used on it cars with low horsepower ranges (0-100 hp stock), and even then it still did some damage (a 10k cappucino I used got a slight horsepower and significant horsepower drop practically off the bat). It is known that in real life, engines do receive damage because of the use of nitro.

Can anyone verify this as true?

It's just old. Happened in GT3 with my C5-R. I clocked like 5000+ miles on it and of course NOS was not in GT3 and I was losing substantial loss in power.

Well, I wouln't be too sure. I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 06. Clocked around 150.000 miles on it stock, then upgraded the engine to 400 bhp. At around 200.000 miles, I changed oil, and had got 420 bhp more. Wierd. And yes, it is two-hundred-thousand miles. Right now, I have just passed 275.000.

It's just the engine wear, and has no relation to nitrous. I'd get a new one.

WTH? :odd:

How do you put over 100,000 miles on a car in GT4? I'd be lucky if I got to 3000 before I ended the game......

You mean 30,000? Because getting 3000 is easy.

The only logical thing would be that the Eclipse were to run at the Test Course 24/7 nerely every day since the game came out. And I highly doubt that is possible.

.Duck.

Oh, yeah, it's possible. Or, I have run the car almost every day since May/June (except in vacations and holidays) on B-Spec mode.

:D

ROFLMAO... Guys... I must be odd, because most of my cars I sell after about 900 miles, yes 900.

I thought I was the weird one... Still think so, but hey, why are you selling them? I haven't sold one car if i didn't need the money I think... Oh, wait... No, I am weird...

Kind of off topic.

But does the odometer go back to 0 after 999,999miles/KM? Or I assume no one has tested this...

It's one of the things I am finding out after doing 999.999 KM. I assume it just hops in with a number more. If it doesn't and you have got 999.999 KM, and then get it reset, if you select Miles then, it will still be in 600.000. Time will show, my friend...

I don't know, I have so many cars that I won and never drive, so I just decied the cars I do drive I should just sell when I finish a few races... or something like that... Truth is, I get bored with a car, and I get a new one. 👍

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I have now tested it! After 999.999 KM, the odometer stops "in the car". When you are driving, the odometer below the speedometer stops at 999.999 KM. However, in the garage, it's over 1.000.000 KM. My longterm test is now complete, with 1.000.006,3 KM driven!

I thought the game maybe would stall after 999.999 KM, or even before that. This shows the great quality of the PlayStation 2 and the Gran Turismo 4. Really good quality! 👍
