Does SRF always make you faster?

I saw it on other threads that one made a claim with SRF you're always gonna be faster. Putting aside the driver's factors, what do you personally think? On what cars-courses-tyre combo do you think it's definitely faster with SRF, and on what cars-courses-tyre combo do you think the other way?

I'd say on grippy tyres, a lot of cars won't skid when exiting hairpins or powering through those 4th/5th corners without SRF & TCS no matter how horrible my driving is, and when I turn on SRF at that point I don't experience the benefit that much --- in fact it makes them more numb in many corners.

Racing soft tyres in GT5 are too grippy anyway. SRF make them even more grippier.

If you do start to slide however, SRF makes it easy to break out of the slide. Driver factors put aside, I think that SRF will always be faster because you can take turns at a higher speed than with it off.

It makes average driver's very good hard to beat driver's, I don't use it and if I host a room I only allow traction control, I think using srf is like using arm bands when swimming

SRF would definitely not make a powersliding and aggressive driver faster. But it helps stabilize the car, so you're saved from the frustration of spinning out. But not really faster.

If you normally spin out, and SRF keeps you from spinning out, how does that not make you faster? You're spending much more time going forward instead of sideways and backward.

i no longer use it but i was shocked at the difference. as far as i can tell it keeps you on that knife edge (the bit between grip and no grip) for longer. this means i found i could take corners at speeds that would induce the ineviatable spin out........but without it actually happening :) great but not very realistic in my opinion. on tracks like Trial mountain and Deep forest i fund it was worth a full 1.5 seconds per lap.
