I thought at first I'd imagined it.... but now I'm sure it's real.

I can have a race on a track in a particular car and it all goes great.

If I do the same track, same car, in some of the championships, it seems as though there are grass magnets and black ice all over!

An example... GT Allstars (level 19), Cape Ring. I can fly around that in other races, and normally quite like it. But in the GT Allstars championship, I spend half my time on the grass and the other half spinning like a top!

My gut feeling is the software has hidden difficulty adjustments.

Or am I nuts??

Maybe you just getting nervous because its a championship :dopey:

I thought that's what it was at the beginning.... but I've done some "tests" (completely unscientific of course) and it really does seem as if you're in a different car.....

The one that really struck me was the Loeb challenge ice race. I struggled for ages with it without changing any settings, before eventually beating it fairly easily with a 50/50 torque split. However I could take a stock '82 Audi quattro - less power, more weight and no trick suspension - into practice mode and run a standing start lap 10s quicker than I could do in the challenge...

What about the black ice? And the pixies?

those damn pixies, theyve caused me to lose many races. the menace must be destroyed! I wish i could mod a flame thrower onto my car, burn em pixies and melt that black ice while im at it.

Will PD please do something about them?

You could be onto something here, the same thing happens online! Don't know if anybody else has noticed it, but your cars driving characteristics change???

Nah, your car handles the same, there's no hidden grass magnets :P

NO but im sure there are bloody great magnets in the walls around daytona and indyanapolis.

OP maybe your a little stressed as up against competion and your maybe pushing just a bit harder than you think, ive had similar things happen just try to relax and you will come through.

i find driving to be harder if i play online as apposed to offline, same settings same car same track (my game online) or im bat crazy!!

Something very important mate that happened to me.
Did you check with what kind of tires have you start the race because i had this issue myself but after checking i had installed the hard tires and not the soft racing type.

Yup, that'd be them...

As to online handling, it's the weight of fuel in the tank and a few things like that which alter the dynamics.

It does happen here and there. It actually happened to me also in the GT All Stars race, I had the FGT, I destroyed them in all of the races and in the last one, I was leading by a good margin and suddenly, my car had no grip, I kept spinning and finally won the race by less than 1 second and to make matters worse, the game froze when I received the trophy for the championship, so I had to restart.

But yeah, it happens sometimes, you start spinning out and your car has no grip whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its drastically effecting my enjoyment of the game. It isn't stopping me from winning races etc it is just something I have noticed. I play every night online against my mates from work and we all say the same thing. Exactly the same set up, tires etc and the fuel won't come into consideration unless you are comparing it to a race where you re-fuel? Do a test, do a race in one of the earlier stages on A-Spec and take the same car online on the same track and see if you can tell any difference?

Little folk, like Leprachauns and gnomes, imps, sprites etc...they're everywhere!

I remember Sprites - The C64 could have 8 of those on screen at one time!... Good times indeed!..

I noticed this as well in the FGT Championship. I was way ahead during one of the races, all of a sudden I completely lost my grip and couldn't regain control. The AI easily passed me up and won. It felt like I was driving on ice but the track was supposedly dry.

edit: Is it possible there's a glitch in the game and sometimes the game is simulating tire wear without displaying it on the tire wear indicator (even though there is supposedly no tire wear in A-Spec except in the Endurance races)?

On the tracks with weather changes there are some diffrences that might be overlooked.

There is about 4 diffrent versions of sunny :)

Sunny, no clouds (most grip)
Sunny, some clouds (little less grip)
Sunny, still full white background (even less grip)
Sunny, but darker (massive grip loss)

All of them have diffrent grip levels ...

But Cape Ring does not have weather or ?

Maybe I am going crazy too :scared:

I do not even notice any difference in grip regardless of how cloudy it is. Grip only changes when it's damp or rainy/snowy.
