People have tastes in cars. Some prefer something affordable and practical. Some prefer something eye-catching. Some (no offense) want something ugly, maybe grotesque but still get the job done on the road/track. Some want something that may not be a serious performer, but looks better than most other stuff on the road. As a variation of a seperate topic I've made about car color and personality, this is about cars themselves.

If you drive a big, bad, powerful truck, that means that you are either a hard-working person, or a person who craves horsepower and enjoy every bit of the American spirit. If compacts are your interest, you are possibly a trendy person. You are probably being youthful and love being outgoing and supportive. If you are a fan of modifying cars (even if they are as outrageous or as grotesque as the "Words Fail Me" thread here in the "Cars in General" forums), you obviously have an eye for art and is always looking to make even the most ugly ducking into a beautiful swan (in that person's mind, at least). If "cute" cars are your interest, you are probably just that- cute.

So, is the car that you drive or admire a reflection of your personality, or do you think there is actually a personality to be involved or measured? Reply now.

My favorite cars tend to reflect aspects of my personality that you don't normally see. I'm generally a calm, mellow, polite, quiet person, and I'm very rarely aggressive or angry. On the flip side, my favorite cars tend to be aggressive, loud, fast, and obnoxious. :sly:

I would have to say that to some degree, it does.
The Ford Thuderbird, especially the 1961-1963 version is my favorite.
It's a "pretty" car with room for four. So somewhat practical.
It also has either a 390cid engine the makes 300hp and 450 lb/ft torque, or the powerful engine, a 428cid with a pair or four-bbl carbs, from the factory.
Nothing like a beast of a car, dressed like a "dandy".

Usually, but some people for financial reasons don't have much choice on what kind of car they end up driving.

You might not realise it, but that says just as much about a driver as any other car.

All it says is they can't afford to drive the car they really want. Our receptionist wants a new GTO, but instead drives her boyfriend's Chevy pickup with a 4" lift and tires taller than my 330i because she is also a working mother of two. Whats that say about her?

I can't afford a Challenge Stradale... what's that say about me?

I don't drive anything atm, but one of my numerous dream cars certainly reflects my personality.

The BMW M3 is in my opinion the perfect daily driver. It's civilized, practical, and quite easy to get along with. But when you want to open up, the M3 will respond quite accordingly.

You drive a 330i. It says plenty. :)

The truth of the matter is that if a car is any indication of socioeconomic status, you can tell just as much about someone driving a beater as you can about someone driving a GS430. But that's turning around the question that John asked.

Hell ****ing no.

The Porsche 911 GT2 reminds me of nothing about myself. Except that I'm handsome and I can run faster than 200 miles per hour.

I love Nissan Skylines. What does that say about me? No idea.
I don't own one yet but i've saved about 1/3 of the money needed to buy one.

What if the car in question is a sought-after classic? What does that say about you? For example, let's say you own a beautiful Jaguar XKE. What does that say about the owner?

No not really, but I get really crazy when It's anything Viper related (even if the viper word doesn't mean Dodge viper) "freak" part is pretty fitting I suppose.

I would say bug eyed sprite fits you the freak.....j/k....I'd say, the Lincoln Versailles....Not only do I sleep alot, but i've got parts you'd only believe if you saw...;)

My personality has nothing to do with the cars that i like.

I judge cars on nothing but their specifications.

And I drive my cars depending on what i want them to do. Which i won't mention.

Hiya! :D :O

My personal: 1993 Camaro Z28, LT1 engine

Compare me to my car.... JUST NO! :O NO NO NO NO NOOO! :O I feel that I just dont look right at all driving my Camaro Z28, but I luv it... :O All the guys at school would say I am a cute gurl, but would then see my car and would go "Is that seriously your car?" Blah...It's like I am expected to drive non-performance cars like other gurls in school   My Camaro is a bit loud with a Flowmaster as I am also loud in the class and always talkative and participating with loud talks! :O But I am not that strong as how strong my car is...:O
The only thing that my car reflects my personality is that it is always clean. :O I am a a very clean person with a very clean looking car is the only thing me and my car have as to reflecting my personality! :O

My Favorites:
Skyline GT-R VSpec II R34 and McLaren F1

These two cars will like BE WAY off the scale into reflecting me! :O I personally dont think these two cars will give me the SAME personality as guys who own these cars. It's like these performance cars are usually a guys THING! :O It is all over the magazines as you see that its a MALE who own this and that car or whatever car! It seems it is never a gurls thing as if our only job in car business is to be a model and stand next to your cars :O:O So it will reflect my personality as being VERY RARE and Unique! :O:O

At some point, I think that my favorite "Wish-I-had-one" car, pretty much resembles me.. Kinda ugly, not very easy to handle, tends to be a bit unfriendly and unforgiving if mistakes are made...

[edit :]I should add : "Useless for everyday stuff"[/edit]

The 1978 3.3 liter Porsche 911 Turbo...

'Nuff said me suspects...

My dream car is a 1970 plymouth GTX. I'm loud and obnoxious, and like to sing, so, I guess it kind of resembles me.

The Lancia Delta. Not too powerful, but not necessarily weak, and the looks it has can sometimes make it go unnoticed. I usually slip by crowds without drawing much attention myself.

Of course, given my multi-personality disorder this is all subject to change.

Well, this may be boasting, but:

I'm the type of guy who is unlike any other. Anything I do, I sorta put my own stamp of uniqueness on it. I'm a pretty rare breed, indeed, and although I'm not exactly the king right now, I may someday be great. Driving cars of course.

I think the RA60 that I'm slowly bringing to life as time goes by reflects myself; Unique, rare, full of potential :)

McLaren'sAngel must do a lot of blushing on GTPlanet. ;) Easy now, Madmoiselle McLaren.

How many of you think there are autmobiles which excude mixed or abstract reflections of a person's character? If so, name at least one and whatever kinds of personalities such a car can reflect.

And as a joke, a lady with a performance ride means that performance isn't a male thing. After all, if the girl is cute/hot/sexy/(whatever terminology you prefer), then her looks alone are enough to get guys' blood pumping. A cute girl can add 50 horsepower to your car, you know...

How do you describe people who own Kei cars, mini cars, super-minis, or whatever? What about such people like those?

I bought a green sweater with yellow stripes.

Imagine the coolness.

They are metrosexuals (j/k).... I knew a (huge) guy who loved the old bug and a (very) tall guy who liked riding his Vespa....... And they were no close to a metro......
People love specific cars cause something clicks in their mind I guess..... It's not practicallity but something more emotional perhaps?

BTW, I have a economic car and my next car will be a economy car, not because I enjoy them but more because it's practical..... My favorite cars however, are performance cars.... Just looking at them go fast makes me excited!!

Eh.... I really don't think I would be able to dedicate myself to a performance car (financially)... It really is a pain for me to use a whole bundle of money..... :guilty:

Hiya! :D :O

I would describe those people who drive those kind of cars as people who like to have room around them! :O Yes these cars are small and they must like them for a good reason! They so easy to clean because they are smaller than lots of cars and for sure they dont take alot of room in the garage at all compared to bigger cars. They probably dont like having tight spaces around them so they get these small cars so they can manuever around other cars or just to save spaces in the house/garage! :O
In addition, I am sure their house too would be VERY OPEN in the space as nearly everything is pushed to the walls and a big space in the middle to do CARTWHEELS!!! :O :O :O

Don't forget they're light and always taken lightly (as in, no racer's gonna take a K-car seriously) ;)

I'm really considering building that SHOGun. Anyone got a Ford Fiesta, engine lift, ratchet set, welder, cutter and Ford Taurus SHO laying around?

I like the Bentley Arnarge T.

Does that mean I'm quick and comfortable, but old and expensive?
