'Dog Box' Issue

I've ran into this with the majority of the cars on this game. Since I have a G27 that uses the H-Pattern shifter along with paddles, when I install the fully customizable Dog Box transmission I am no longer able to use the H-Pattern. The car is only able to shift using the paddles. But if I install the 6-speed, I'm able to use the H-Pattern, but I'm not able to modify the gears:indiff:

This must be annoying for drifting.

There are 2-related threads regarding this issue, one is for the Sauber LMP, the other the rocket car.
In the case of the two-above mentioned cars, it seems to be a mis-labeling error by PD for the trans.

Both of these One of these cars (Rocket) has are sequential trans in real life, I don't know which car you ran into that with...
...but if its not one of these two, do a google search for the car and see what kind of trans it uses.

Well cars I know that it has happened to off the top of my head are the Commadore SS, 280z, which are both 'standards'. I will try to find more cars with this problem later.

Well, regardless of whether or not it has an H Shifter in RL, the first 6 gears should work with the H Shifter, imo.

The 458 for example, you should be able to use the first 6 gears on your shifter, then if you're going fast enough for 7th, you remember to use the paddle for that one gear.

It's just like adding traction control or abs to older cars that didn't have them in RL, its not realistic to have it, but you might want to, so I think this is a bug, whether its happening to 1 car or 100 cars.

EDIT: I have a G27 as well, and know that the 458 worked as I described for GT5, no reason for it not to in later itterations, or any other car not to either.

It appears that the configuration of gearboxes regarding the ability to use of H-pattern and clutch is inconsistent, or maybe it's that there is some internal GT6 logic that I can't quite grasp.

One case to illustrate this is the McLaren F1 '94 and the McLaren F1 GTR '95, both premium cars. In the F1 94 you can use the clutch and H-pattern no matter what gearbox is installed (stock, fixed 6-speed or customizable 6-speed), while the F1 GTR '95 only has the customizable 6-speed and it is sequential: no working clutch and no H-pattern shifter. However, from what I've read about these cars, the F1 GTR '95 was a racing modification of the F1 '94 and the only changes made were the addition of aerodynamic parts, weight reduction by stripping the interior and supressing things like the stereo music system, and an air intake restriction to limit power to 600 HP in order to comply with racing class regulations. So apparently, there should no major difference in the adjustable gearbox of both cars, however GT6 allows using the clutch and H-pattern in the F1 '94, but not in the F1 GTR '95.

I have just added a TH8 shifter to my T500 setup and discovering these issues with clutch operation and use of the H-pattern shifter is annoying me a bit.

Cheers,
S.

The Sauber is not a sequential.

The fact that you can't use the same shifting input that the car has in real life is pretty ridiculous (the McLaren F1 GTR '95 case).

PD should leave it the way it was in GT5. Why take away the players choice?
