Doing Donuts and Figure 8s.

I'm pulling this video out from another thread because there's too much other stuff in it. The reason for making this video is to answer the question...
Can we do donuts?

Using the Nissan 350z I explored some of the games new physics and worked on doing donuts and figure 8's to answer the many questions about if it's possible to do in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. (less)

cool i think one giy on here was saying you could not do counter steer donuts but you were....maybe he ment it in a different way.. can you do a tight as possible counter steer donut? tight meaning the front wheels dont really move, they sat in one place. basically the rear swings around the front wheels in a tight circle

come to think of it i remember hearing about you in the gt4 days, sure ive seen some of your vids too. nice to finally meet you. also what force feedback setting do you use 1-10?

Do you mean pivot off my front tires... and spin around in a 360?
Kind of did that at the end.

Nice to meet you too!
I use 7.

yes you did it at the end but not a full 360, just wondering if gt5p will allow you to do those continuous 360 donuts with countersteer

I'm sure Breaker is aware of this, but normally for those type of tight donuts you'll need to have the brakes on a bit...

Thanks for yet another video

Donuts with a radius are doable, but continuous 360s in one spot I have yet to be able to do even with the brakes. I'll work on it and if I can I'll let you guys know. I can do one 360, and the wheels will keep spinning to set up another 360, but it won't be continuous as you're thinking.

what tyres did you use? how much harder will it be using the control pad?

I used N1 tires. I haven't tried with the control pad yet.

The way the weight transfers when you turn back and forth looks so realistic. Can't wait to play this game...

Can GT5 handle this ?

This is my rapid video
You see me doing a "countersteer" donuts using the brake to show you how the wheels should react the inside front wheel is not moving while the exterior one is running

Then some large donuts like in your video

Then I'm doing a donut with 0 contersteer

Then a burn... and using my horn wooot !

And a "real looking" spin out using full throttle

Thanks for the video Breaker. Nice one:tup:

I also had managed doing the donuts in GT5P like you did which in big radius. The one that I meant was the pivoted countersteer as in the video from my first post.

I used to do it a lot in Toyota KE70. Done once in M3 E36 a year ago and then thats it. The steering will counter near to full lock easily as I full throttle. I don't have my own video, but this is the closest with a KE70 doing pivoted counter donut as what I mean : (although the guy doesn't countersteer enough)

infact doin continuous 360s in one spot is almost impossible with a 350z (at least with stock differential) and im talking about real live , to be able to do that you need one hell of a diff that locks instantly and at high rate between the 2 wheels

great video Breaker i hope u do more videos like that, doing some stunts and and what not to show off how GT5 evolved and how closer to real life it is

Very nice Breaker, strangley I have been doing the same testing in the same car (red 07 350Z) on the same track (daytona, also some on fugi), I can't record anything sadly.

That part of daytona is flat and wide enough its like having a free open parking lot. It's pretty fun.

GT4 had a parking lot for practice, but I don't think replays were available, so this is pretty nice. I hope in the final GT5 there is a gymkhana parking lot where we can set up cones and such to have some fun like in the video.

Nice video!

Since all i did was drifted in GT3, i had big hopes for GT4, and as you know - the drift physics sucked wich made me didn't even finish the game and going back to Enthusias wonderful world of physics.

I once again had big hopes on GT5 since the first time i saw a video of GTHD and the drift trails. Then i get it, play it, like it and then i get the GT5P Demo and it's too hard to drift.. Same with GT5P. I can flick cars around sideways almost anywhere IRL, but in the game.. i find it real, real hard. N2 tires on a F430 is the easiest, but still way to hard. Maybe i just need to learn the physics of the game... I dunno.

Guess i'll just have to wait for the full game and the ability to get a 2-way LSD to see what the GT5 Physics are all about.

Love the video Ohio!
I have no idea how you control the car so well.
Could you post one with a cockpit view so we can better appreciate your fine skillz and learn from you?
Cheers mate! Love all your videos.

im supprised that you used a 350z and not the TVR Tuscan Speed 6, Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG, Lexus IS F or the BMW M3 Coupe since those 4 cars come with a limited slip differential. the vid was good and the physics are miles away from GT4 but try doing tighter donuts or continuious 360 donuts like in the LFS video posted above

(the C6 Zo6 should be able to do it too because of its low end torque

Now THAT'S a donut.. thank you, maskrider. :)

That's what people have been referring to all this time, it was never do-able in any previous version of GT. The "other" type, what Breaker did, I would refer to more as "drifting in a tight circle", and I believe that was do-able before now.

What breaker did was not possible until now...It is nice to see donuts dun properly and not just peeling out with full steering lock.
I agree with super fla on that one...4wd full floor steering locked....not much skill needed for that.

Great video Breaker. It looks as though the driver was also crossing hands over the steering wheel as well. 👍

Well, don't misunderstand that I am intended to show my skill, because I don't have much skill. It is simply a video of donut in GT5P that I tried and that's all.

Even with steering lock, GT4 doesn't seem to allow easy donuts.

skillzzz skilllzzz skilllzzz.. mad skillzzzz
