Thought I'd go back and try the Ascari track again (just finished the last S mission.... not easy that one) Can;t remember what race it was, but I was in 1st place got bored and decided to race across the middle of the track to bypass a few corners... Screen went black and I was put back on track in 6th place, worked my butt off to get back in 1st (no cheating) When I crossed the finish line on the last lap the timer contiued. I kept on driving to see what would happen and I ended up alone on the track. The race never ended.

Nice to see they penalize cheaters, or lazy drivers, but it seemed a bit extreme to me.

Anyone else try something like that, does it happen on other tracks?

Are you sure you didn't just miss a checkpoint? The "reset to track" is unrelated to cheating, that happens if you leave the track far enough for a long enough duration. It might reset you to the nearest section of track or something, skipping a checkpoint. As far as I know, unless penalties are turned on the only requirement for completing a lap is to cross all checkpoint lines and the finish line.

Could be that a checkpoint was missed, that makes sense.but the continued timer was strange.

I cut a huge section of the track and got reset. Then, when I was behind the 1st place guy, we started the final lap. It immediately put me in 12th place. "🤬 this" I said as I restarted the race.

This is directly related to cheating. They put the "invisible" check points to prevent people from cutting the whole track. Even with penalties OFF.

I had this happen to me too, I think it happens this way because - without saying so, the lap is invalidated and lose all place. As for the timer still continuing, I'm guessing they added a glitch when fixing the "cheating" issue.
