Just wanted to say thanks for not having screen-filling-auto-play-volume-ads on the site.

I try to disable ad-block on all sites I regularly visit but sometimes the ads are just too much. I just wanted to say thank you for keeping it classy and not having ridiculous amounts of ads everywhere. It's done tastefully and with your posters in mind.

Thanks GTP, ad-block is off for your site.

This site is pretty good at keeping the ads out of your face.

However, I didn't think you could simply block the ads here - I thought only Premium members had the ads removed. :)

Thank you, Prototyp3, your comments and support are appreciated.

Around half of all GTPlanet's visitors block ads (the site's primary source of income) now, which represents a disturbing trend in my ability to maintain the site over the long term.

Of course, this applies to all of your other favorite sites as well - if they respect your browsing experience and display a reasonable number of ads on pages, please consider un-blocking their ads so they can continue providing their content and services to you for free. Ad blocking can be nice, but it really does have real-world consequences if not used responsibly.

I've turned off Adblock and re-opened the site, but I'm still not getting any advertising. Do I just have to wait a bit or do I have to disable it completely?

Still nothing. I just closed and turned off the background process, but Adblock still seems to be working.

Jordan - does unchecking the box next to this setting:
Disable Contextual Links
Disable the advertising links from being displayed in the text of threads.
earn you any revenue? Or as a Premiumite des it not matter?

Agree, as I use allot of motorcycle forums and tons of them are plastered with ads, it's very frustrating. It seems to be a trend with many websites now. I know sites need to pay bills and I have ads on my own site but too many just put users off and probably end up hurting the site rather than helping.

As long as a site isn't playing screen consuming ads that auto play volume, and I use the site regularly, I always turn ad block off.

I understand how much work goes into web sites (I took a few classes in college) and it's a full time commitment. It's also your baby -- something you've created. It's nice to get recognition (and money) from the work you've done.

I always try to speak out on all the sites I go to in the hopes that a few people who maybe haven't do so yet, will turn it off to help support the sites they love/enjoy/spend time on.
