I recently had a double post fixed and it brings to attention that on some of the forums I visit, multiple posts to the same thread in a short period of time are automerged by software... I don't know if this is a possibility for this forum however thought it might be useful.

My comments that daan linked to above are mostly the same. I suppose my lack of enthusiasm comes from the fact that I simply don't find double-posting to be that offensive (with exception of more obvious, extreme abuse), and I don't like for software to behave in ways that I would not expect. Of course, our current forum software does not support this functionality, so it's really a moot point.

It's a shame it doesn't support it... I have found it to be quite functional in other forums...

Thanks for the responses all.

I got an idea: a "jump to your reply button" for threads you've replied to and a "delete this reply" button in case you've double posted, making it easier to find the edit button in highly replied to, or "hot", threads. How's that to fix the double posting?

And hey check this out. Like anyone would care, but I see double posts by two people here. And just to let you know, I don't feel like being a moderator or anything, I just wanted to point this out that I've seen more than one non-iluvgt4 double post in various threads I've posted in. No big deal though. But look at this! Someone has posted in the same thread more than 140 times! No edit button! Just hypermultipost!

But then i you create a delete post, then people will be penaized or breaking the AUP and then they'll delete it so there's no proo.. but then the mods could print screen.... o.0

But wait Skyline N1 if something like the delete post button is made, the button could automatically merge that particular reply into your first reply to that thread, essentially making an automerge button disguised as a delete button.

And one question.... is that a moderator's message in the second paragraph?

Yes... if your internet connection doesn't fluctuate between on and off every five milliseconds... like mine does on occassion.
