Drawing inspiration from the first championship idea I had before arriving on GTPlanet, I present the following spot race idea.

Dream Car Le Mans 500 - can be either a 500-kilometer or a 500-mile race.
37 laps for 500km, 60 laps for 500 miles (5-hour time limit for latter distance)
Class structure is as follows (specs listed in parentheses):
Dream Car GT1 (650HP, 1000kg)
Dream Car GT2 (550HP, 1000kg)
Tires allowed: Racing Soft, Medium and Hard. Softs for qualifying, Mediums and Hards for the race, and you must use one set of each of the latter two compounds during the race.

Cars for each class are as follows:
Dream Car GT1
Chevrolet Camaro LM Race Car
Chevrolet Corvette C5-R
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) RM
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) RM (<650HP to be eligible in GT1)
Chrysler Viper GTS-R #51
Citroën GT Race Car
Dodge Challenger TC
Dodge Viper GTS-R #91
Ford GT LM Race Car
Ford GT LM Race Car Spec 2
Ford GT LM Spec 2 Test Car
Jaguar XJ220 LM Race Car
Lamborghini NOMAD Diablo GT-1
Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car
Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 TC
Nissan GT-R R35 TC
Nissan 350Z Concept LM Race Car
Nissan Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car
Pagani Zonda LM Race Car

Dream Car GT2
Audi R8 LMS (blank and Team Playstation versions are eligible)
Chevrolet Camaro SS RM (550HP or less for GT2, can be tuned up to 595HP for GT1, but due to the heavier weight, it wouldn't be very competitive in GT1)
Honda NSX-R LM Race Car
Honda NSX JGTC/SUPER GT (all versions eligible)
Honda HSV-010
Lexus SC430 SUPER GT (all versions eligible)
Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car
Mazda RX-7 TC (ballast needed to reach minimum weight requirement of 1000kg)
Mazda RX-8 LM Race Car
Nissan Silvia Spec-R AERO (S15) RM
Nissan Skyline GT-R JGTC (all versions eligible)
Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 TC
Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 TC
Nissan GT-R SUPER GT (all versions eligible)
Nissan 350Z SUPER GT (all versions eligible)
Toyota Supra JGTC/SUPER GT (all versions eligible)
TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM (550HP or less for GT2, ballast needed to reach minimum weight requirement of 1000kg)

Other rules:
All aids except TCS (max. 2) and ABS (max. 1) are not allowed.
Mechanical Damage: Heavy, meant to encourage clean racing.
Slipstream: Weak
Tire Wear/Fuel Consumption rate: Normal
Boost: Off
8 cars per class
Event Start time, including practice & qualifying: 16:00
Time Progression: 1, or whatever rate would allow a daytime start and a nighttime finish
Weather at start and change rate: TBD, am open to ideas.

I have another idea for a similar race on the Nürburgring 24h course. 20 laps for 500km, 32 laps for 500 miles.
Comments, suggestions, and constructive criticism are welcome.

Ford GT & XJ220.
How do you intend to slow these beasts down?

I also suggest getting rid of 4WD cars as that was one of the things that brought us to our knees in "preseason"

It's a spot race that I'm hoping to use as a launchpad for a championship idea I've got partially inspired by the 2000s FIA GT Championship. It's basically a sorting things out race to see where the performances stand. And believe it or not, when I did some testing and performance evaluation, the fastest GT1 car at Le Mans was a Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 (C6) RM. Haven't tested the Jaguar there yet. Fastest GT2 car so far has been the Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car.
Now, for the 4WD cars, I've since made a new rule stating that at least 80% of the engine power must go to the rear wheels. And since the test was done in dry conditions, they didn't really have much of an advantage.
I also still need to set a date. I'm looking into running the Le Mans 500 after the current WSC season ends in a few weeks. I'm leaning towards running it as a 500-mile race so it can start at the usual time and finish at night. If you've got any more suggestions, let me know.

Then those two cars must have some badass straightaway speed because they CERTAINLY don't match the XJ220 or the Ford GT in the turns.

When I tested the Mazda RX-7 LM Race Car, it actually ran a quicker time than the Lamborghini NOMAD Diablo, although the RX-7 was running on Racing Softs, as was the Diablo. However, in the test on the Nürburgring 24h layout, the Diablo ran an 8:16 for it's best, while the RX-7 could only manage an 8:35.
As for the Corvette, the specs are 645HP and 1090kg, so it's both lighter and more powerful than the Ford and Jaguar, the latter of which could run in either class depending on the tuning level. Testing on the Jag has yet to take place and I will have data from that posted in here ASAP.

I don't see anywhere on this post than any cars get more horsepower than others...

I'll add the default specs for the series soon. Meanwhile, I got around to testing the XJ220 LM Race Car in both GT2 and GT1 specs earlier and got the following fastest laps:
GT2: 3:51
GT1: 3:48

The RX7 LM is really fast, but not the best in high downforce areas. Besides the obvious Ford GT's, the XJ220, the GTR LM and Fairlady Z are the best in that area imo.

IMO? And of course! Nothing turns better than the Nissan GTR, and I don't think anything accelerates better than that Fairlady Z...
I can only think of the damage that an R33/R34 LM would do. That R33 LM Road Car is just simply amazing in it's own right.

I still have to complete testing of these vehicles on the Nürburgring 24h layout for that race, but right now, the Nissan GT-R R35 TC is the fastest with a time of 8:14.
So, either of you interested in taking part in either race or both?

Sounds interesting. I ran earlier with some modded specs to get close to GT1 times at LaSarthe, 3:47.0 is as fast as GT1 has went there. So with 590hp 1180kg engine stage 3, the Z06 RM was the same time with one lap in the 3:46.8 range on mediums.

I ran a 3:43 on Softs in the Z06, with the next quickest car being the GT-R R35 TC with a 3:44. The GT-R was the noticeably thirstier car, with a projected fuel range of about 11 laps vs. 12 for the Corvette. And the limit is 650HP, btw. You could probably get closer to the time I ran with the full 650HP max for the class.

Im sure. I could get into the 39s probably. I was just aiming for a realistic time (as close to real life). IRL I think theyre running 600hp 1100kg, but probably on harder tires than softs.

How about 450hp and hard tires because they only hit 3'56 max nowadays.

Thats GTE, not GT1. 450HP is closer to what they make now. A far cry from 600+ back 5 years ago. But the tires are better now as is aero. Thats why theyre doing 3:54's.

Correct. I can imagine with 600+HP, today's GTs would be mega-fast. And the current Pro-Am format was not well thought-out if you ask me.
That said, the class structure here is more akin to the 2000s FIA GT Championship and Le Mans GT, with two classes and a noticeable difference in performance.
Also, I'm leaning towards a weekend race day for these spot races. Would that work for you guys? Also, WilliamsRCN92, feel free to invite drivers from your now defunct (sorry that it went under) GT5 WEC to compete.
