In a time when Sega were still rivals with Nintendo...

With these kinds of specs

CPU 200 MHz Hitachi SH4 RISC GPU 100 MHz PowerVR2 CLX2
And sales figures like these

Sega confirmed that it made US$98.4 million on combined hardware and software sales with Dreamcast with its September 9, 1999 launch. Sega even compared the record figure to the opening day gross of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, which made $28.5 million during the first 24 hours in theaters.

And a launch date of 9/9/99 yet discontinued in March of 2001...it's sad the Playstation 2/Xbox/Gamecube shut it out. It really is a great console with great games and great capabilities for its time.

I just resurrected my old brother's Dreamcast from my parent's dusty entertainment center without being aware of where it was til recently. I only have Soul Calibur and a few fishing games (and even the fishing reel accessory!) and some puzzle game. I never really enjoyed fighting games so...

What games should I try out? :)

Also does anyone here enjoy this magnificent and under-rated console? Tell us!

Yeah I have one (still) and a VMU! and yeah I got it online with it's little 33k modem (UK spec) and it was copitent online games machine and web browser! and 355 had to be the pinical software title.......not to be bettered till GT! crying shame Sega pulled the plug so to say.

I had one with about 16 games, fully boxed, spare controller, again fully boxed.

My biggest gaming regret was selling it when I needed the money while at uni! Sold it all for £35 + P&P! :(

I should have just went without food for a week!

sorry but you've already got what is, in my eyes at least, the best game, namely Soul Calibur. Other than that, I only really played the first Sonic game (I think there was a sequel) which was pretty long and had quite a lot to do in it, and Toy Commander which WAS quite fun, though I picked it up recently and the controls are far too twitchy. Other than that, apparently Shenmue was the best game ever released on it according to a few people I know. My one broke ages ago but I had a craving for some old-school gaming about two months ago, bought one with Soul Calibur, Toy Commander and Sonic, two controllers and two VMU's, all for £30... Then sold my TV and the whole thing is now useless to me. Great.

what's scary is...they're still available. we have a place, here, that sells all the retro consoles AND the games. too bad they don't have a website :P

I only got to sample ONE game on the DC...MvC2, I believe. it was only the controller I was uncomfortable with.

I played Phantasy Star on it A LOT when it first came out. Never online (not sure if it was even possible), but it was good fun! An aquired taste though.

The other games I played on it were Power Stone 2 and Soul Caliber. Hooked up to a CRT monitor the graphics are awesome. I'll never forget how much ahead of its time it was.

I loved that console. The only reason it didn't do much better than it did was that it didn't have the backing of the game companies. It had a few shining gems, but didn't get a lot of the big titles that ended up over on the PS2, and later the Xbox.

Wasn't that sort of like the pre-quel to Project Gotham?

I believe so, my friend had this game and all we'd play was this and Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero! I believe Metropolis Street Racer even had the Kudos system!

If you never had a Dreamcast, you missed a bunch of ****ing good games.

Indeed.

I might be the only person in (south) Florida who has Project Justice. I snagged it with the Sonic Adventure bundle when I bought my Dreamcast.
