NINDOX
In light of the release of the Initial D movie, I'm not a big fan. Since, is summer and there is nothing to do, I saw the commerical for the movie and I was "inspire" to drift. Though one of the hardest thing about it is that is hard on GT4. I just want to know basic tips, and also, a general way of thought to customize the setting of my car to drift better. Thanks in advance.
OHMIGOD!!
I get to use my Eight Six strategy!!
Okay, you've watched Initial D, you've gained a healthy respect for the ol' Hachi-Roku, and now you wanna drift like Fujiwara Takumi. That's good, so lemme help you on your way to becoming a Dori-Kun(drift king).
First of all, buy
-A Toyota Sprinter TRUENO AE86
Okay, so far, so good. Tune it until you have EXACTLY 160 horsepower or a lil more, too much and it will be too hard for a newbie like you to control. If you think you can handle it though, go right ahead and TUNE THAT BABY UP.
Then, buy
-A Limited-Slip Diffrential(LSD), Two-Way.
Don't play around with the LSD until you know how it works.
Now, here is the style drift you're gonna be learning today: The Feint Drift.
Feint Drifting is done by shifting the car's weight from one side to the other, thereby causing Oversteer. Sounds easy? It isn't. Those of you without Driving Force Pro wheels are in for a challenge.
To feint drift, just swerve in the OPPOSITE direction of the corner and then quickly swerve into the corner.
Alright, set the car up with N2 Comfort Tires, and then TURN OFF YOUR AIDS. This is very important.
Remember kids and fellow drifters, AIDS ARE BAD!
Mosey on over to the Autumn Ring Mini track and start practicing. There's not much I can do to help you out here, except these pointers:
-Too much Countersteer is as bad as too little. If you countersteer too much you will kill the drift and spin out.
-Open the throttle! A healthy amount of gas is required to keep the wheels sliding, and just like with Countersteer, too much is as bad as too little.
-If you think you're about to screw up a good drift, tap the brakes to even the car out. Remember how braking straightens your car and induces Understeer? There ya go.
-PRACTICE! If you want to be the next Takumi, you gotta practice every day. Don't come crying to me if you still suck at drifts because you didn't stay up to snuff at practicing.
-READ! Read as much as you can about drifting. Study the techniques of other drifters. There are many more ways to drift than just feinting, and you should implement them all.
Okay kids, class is over. Get drifting!
