Hope everything is okay TW, I have taken the liberty of creating the poll, just to keep things moving, I hope you understand I am not stealing this comp, due to popular request this comp needs to be polled. It will still be your responsibility (if you come back) to start Week 29 or pass the comp off to another host, or to let it die.

Thanks for stepping up, and great shot too. :D

You really had a good shot GrumpE!

Thanks for getting the poll up Grump, sorry guys that I never got around to it. Been very busy and the 360 has been sucking up my spare time. Will try and get it back up and running if you all want me to continue running it that is. :)

No problem. Keep running it if you have the time, if not pass it off to another, just keep the comp running!! I love drifting!

Assuming that my entry holds up for 3 more days (and it probably will due to inactivity lately), It will finally be my first win! And if that is the case my chosen theme will be "180 Degree Drift, Seventies Style"; all entries polled. Explanation: Drift any 180° turn in a '70's Car... (Bonus points for Drifting...lol)

Also thanks for the votes: arsenal, atlop, ceiling_fan, CyborgGT, franz, gordon gt, jmx2222, Muzaffar Musa, NTX1982, Paulfenning, Swiss Legend, Tangled Web, Tom Servo.

Although I can clearly see you are the winner, I don’t find very polite to call myself has a winner if the poll didn’t closed yet…

Also, you ruined the theme surprise…argh, I am sad now. :(

If you can clearly see that I am the winner, than what's the problem?? Also for the record, I never Declared myself the Winner, read my post again.
Polite?? What part of GrumpEone do you not understand?? (jk)

Anyway, I made my statement because I will probably not be around much this weekend (when the poll ends), also I made my theme choice public to keep things rolling, just in case the comp gets handed off to another to run.

PM is your friend.

.. how bout the next round?

.. how bout the next round?

That’s up with Tangled Web. But why won’t you talk with him and ask if you can run the competition? I am almost certain he will not refuse…IF, you whant to run it...

I'd run it....:)

congrats btw to GrumpE on his first win!!!

TW has given the option for another to run the comp., putting it up to all of us to decide, kudos to TW being very 'host-like' (per the quoted below). So I guess the important thing is to keep the competition running. Someone needs to step-up and start the next week/ round of 'Drift-mode'.
IMO - Either Swiss or SuZQ would make excellent hosts, since they seem to be relatively active around here, as well as seeming to be level-headed, decent, fair, and conceptually creative people. You guys could maybe rotate hosts from week to week. Also, I noticed a thread about increasing the winners powers, recently. Maybe the winner, becomes next week's (or the alternating week's) host. (just throwing out Ideas!, maybe others can do the same)
Anyway, if TW becomes more active again give the comp. back to him if asks for it back.

Thanks Swiss, I appreciate it. You know, that was a good shot, but not one of my own favorites. Lately, I have been trying to hone in on what others around here tend to vote for. Personally, I don't prefer the rear-end shots, but those seem to get plenty of votes. Also, I like seeing 3 Planes of the car, rather than just two (like my shot); but I guess scenery, or what's happening in the scene, can over-take the lack of planes.

Congrats GrumpEone!!!! 👍
Well, if TW is still busy and has very little time to visit GTP, I guess we all should just move on with the comp. Swiss and/or Suzq should be able to handle the comp well...... its not really that hard to host anyhow. :p Or maybe you should host it GrumpEone since you won this week........ :D

Congratulations GrumpEone!

Slow down guys, I am still wanting to run this comp. :D
Also I have noticed that I never got a week 27 winner, it was a tie. So I don't have the theme for week 29. So I gotta get the tie breaker poll up and done before I can continue. Sorry about all the delays guys, I will get it back on track now. 👍

Oh you better do! If not, there will be another Grand Theft Comp Hijack if things doesn't go our way....... hehehe. :trouble:

I like your shot better on preview size than in full size, but I will tell you the reasons why your shot is so good IMO.

One of the main reasons is that the car is almost totally sharp vs. the blurred background and making both wheels spinning perfectly.
Secondly, it gives a sense of great drift (and I imagine it was a great drift) and don’t know if this is correct, but it looks like the car is making an U turn (a turn in U form).

Also, there is smoke trail, the colours are very well eye catching, it has a unique and rare angle and I don't know, but (has you said) rear drift shots seem to have more votes than front drift shots.

The only flaws I can see is the border. That faded border look downgrade a bit the image. Also, be careful with the crop. I don’t feel very comfortable with the crop you’ve done. I like the widescreen style, but you should’ve left a little more road in the lower side of the image. You almost cropped the car.

All in all it is a great shot, and a well deserved win. 👍

Yeah, the crop was a bit extreme, though I can't say for sure because the background may have been bad anyway. I was never really a fan of the drop-shadow borders, I personally prefer a solid color (usually dark, it depends on the image.) I like the 'unorthodox' wheels on the car, too.

What Qualities do you think made the Full-Size not as good as the Preview??¿¿

Yes, it was a great drift and I pulled it off well too. Yes, the car spun slightly more than 180 degrees, while the path of the car traveled in a straight-ish line (mostlly straight).

LdS
I was going for an in-your-face perspective, while still being able to see the smoke trail and S-curve.
I have noticed 'Rear-End shot' voting trend overall, not just in the drift comp, and I don't understand why, since usually the major style points on cars are the Front-End, Hood, and Fenders.

The border is just that, a border; I don't think it should degrade the image, if you put a beautiful picture in a gaudy frame, it doesn't make the picture any less beautiful. You are supposed to look past the frame/ border, but if others have a similar opinion, I should probably make a few adjustments.

I cropped out from just above the watermark, up to a point where I thought that eye-movement would end. So basically chopped out the useless part of the background.

Thanks LdS and ceiling_fan, for your in-depth analysis of my entry, I wish more people would do the same more often. There are a few adjustments I should make in future entries.
