drift settings

what preludes?....... there arent any in gt3 unless you mean gt2 plus the prelude is front wheel drive........ So its not drifting...

settings, i have none for a 300zx
but when i tune a car I start with a fairly grippy setting and throw on some sims or super-slicks depending on the HP, for you, i might say super-slicks for starters. Sims might be too frustrating with that much power
From there you should be able to tune some grip out of it by playing with the spring rates, toe angle, and brake balance.
in general, set the rear spring rate marginally higher to drift so more weight is placed on the front wheels. If the car gets TOO drifty, just do the opposite.
You want positive front and negative rear toe angle.
Oh, and dont forget to lower it all that you can for lower center of gravity (and it just looks better)
Common brake balances on drifters are something like 9 or 10 in the front, and anywhere from 18 to 24 in the rear.

and maybe try dropping some hp, if things are too slidey. 640hp is a bit much on a drifter, you could probably use the engine as Nissan designed it and get sideways just fine.
But, to each's own, i suppose. :p

this is all just a best-guess, i dont use the 300zx, kinda heavy
But try playing around with that, it should get you on the right track. Just find what works for you.

(i'm going to get a 300zx, build it up to 642 HP and try some settings, if i come up with anything decent i'll post it up for you)

ok, here's what i came up with:

Nissan 300zx 2+2 (and it was black)

Parts
Fully Customizable Susp.
Sports Brakes and Balance Controller
Racing Muffler
Sports Computer
Engine Ported/Polished, and Balanced
Stage 3 Turbo
Racing Intercooler
Triple Plate Clutch
Racing Flywheel
Carbon Driveshaft
Super Slick Tires

I did no lightweight mods, but they would definitely help me with the car balance. I'll leave this up to you.

Settings
Sring Rate: F 14.3 - R 4.0
Ride Height: F 83mm - R 83mm
Shock Bound: F 6 - R 7
Shock Rebound: F 6 - R 7
Camber Angle: F 2.0 - R 1.0
Toe Angle: F 1.0 - R 1.0
Stabilizers: F 3 - R 3
Brake Balance: F 9 - R 20
LSD and Tranny settings left stock
ASM: 0
TCS: 0
Tires: T2's Front and Rear

that's how i would set it up. I was testing on Apricot Hill, and this was good enough to let me drift continuously around the first 2 turns, and link through the esses into that long duration corner (at which point i spun out :D )

I prefer a car that i cam really throw into the corner if i so wish, as opposed to one that i have to ease into a drift.
If this setting is a bit to grippy for you, try on some sims and change the spring rate to around 5.0 on the front, and 14.0 on the rear. This made the car considerably 'driftier'. Not quite to my liking, but i could still link most of the first part of the course. Throttle control and careful weight transfer are key here, a little bit tricky with the Dual Shock.

hope that helps prelude_turbo8
if nothing else, it'll give you somewhere to start your work from, to get it set to your liking. :D
